Primal Rage refresh rate?

Has anybody used their Primal Rage for a lot (50+) of games, and have you noticed a decrease in reaction? If so, approximately when did you start noticing any reaction loss?  I haven't noticed any loss yet, but I've only got about thirty games on mine.  What do/did you plan to do to restore OOB reaction?

I would recommend this for any ball at approx 50 games...

Can they go more than 50?  Yes, in a lot of cases.

I would still recommend this as standard maintenence.

Depends on the surface. If the ball is polished at box finished,  keep an eye on it. If your bowling on synthetic lanes the surface isn't going to be nearly as rough as say wood. You will be able to focus on a light resurface and then more polish for a long period of time before the cover ever really absorbs any oil.

If you keep any surface duller, non-polished, then I would still lightly redo the surface as needed and then look at extracting the oil after 50 to 60 games. I have noticed that a lot of the polished equipment that is maintained with polish doesn't absorb oil.

Equipment with any kind of surface does absorb the oil much quicker.

I forgot to mention that I have a spinner and do all my coverstock maintenance. I have noticed that the Motiv power-gel polish does not shine up like many others... more like a lustre instead of a shine. Over in the Motive forums, one of the members suggested taking the surface down to 360, then 500 and 1500, then polish to restore OOB, but that seems to be some pretty deep cutting to get to fresh coverstock. Just checking to see if other owners of the Red Ball are doing..... thanks for any input!

Motiv doesn't like to offer much info. as to their manufacturing process and how to restore their balls to stock surface.

Therefore before I did anything to my Thrash Frenzy I used it last year by not touching it for 75 games and it worked the best that way.

Back in the day when CAMI grade abrasives were the normal thing to use in the bowling industry 360/500/1500 would look somewhat ugly because the rule of thumb used to be do not skip to a grit more than double what you just finished with.

With the FEPA grade abrasives (Abralon and SIA-Air being the most widely used) it's not a sin to go from 500 to 1500... and if you want/need to maintain that sharp move on the backend, be sure to leave some "lines" under the polish.

That is Justin's opinion which I do agree with.

Motiv has never come out as a company and stated theirs as a company/designer/manufacturer.  It's all proprietary as to how they manufacturer the process of doing a cover.  All they do say is what the cover is OOB at the final surface and have changed some of them midstream. (ie. Ascent Solid first came at 1000 wet sand.)

I have found Motiv Gel Polish to be of the less abrasive sort.Meaning, you have to use more and "lean" on it a bit to get a high gloss polish on a ball. This is a good thing for rev dominant players because it allows you to easily get many internediate levels of gloss or polish on a surface. If you want a high gloss finish, just start with a finer sanding level or girt, like 3000 or 4000 grit, before you apply the polish.
