Jackal vs Cruel Intent
« on: January 28, 2015, 06:15:45 PM »
How do these balls compare to each other out on the lanes?  I have a teammate that has a hyper cell and a mastermind, any idea how the motiv Jackal and Cruel Intent would compare to either of these balls.  He has faster speed (19 to 20 mph) and cranker style release. With his hyper cell he plays more of an inside line to the pocket. If he gets wider with the hyper cell he starts leaving ten pins. The mastermind is a tad longer than the hyper cell and has about 4 or 5 more boards backend for him.
375 RPM, 17-18 MPH, 45+ DEG AXIS ROTATION, 17 DEG TILT

I would have to say that the Jackal is the strongest ball I have ever thrown, backend wise.  I need to be left of 15 now matter what I bowl on.  It never has a problem bouncing off the dry.  It does need a ton of oil though.  In comparison to the Cruel Intent, I honestly didn't like it.  It needed so much oil to just maintain energy down lane. I didn't have the hand or speed to keep energy in that ball.  I owned the Talon and that ball was much easier to use with the same strength.  I think the cover and core combo was just too powerful for most bowlers and lane conditions.
As far as comparing them to the Mastermind.  I believe it is somewhere in between.  It is earlier rolling than the Jackal but no were the movement off the backend.  It is not as strong or early as the Cruel Intent but carries easier due to it being able to save energy.
The Hypercell is really a great House Shot ball.  When it comes to tournament equipment there is no way you can put it int the same class as Motiv's higher end covers.  The Hypercell would be more like the Covert Vengeance line of Motiv.  To be fair, Motiv has yet to match the Skid/Flip reaction that Roto/Storm can produce.  They are close though.

I would tell you that you WILL love the Jackal. It is a great high end ball.  If your looking for something "smaller" I would like to suggest the Venom Shock.  Seems to be the Motiv ball that matches up to all styles and most conditions.
