MOTIV Jackal Carnage Video Review

Jackal Carnage #Ontheprowl

Description: The Jackal Carnage is the second ball of the Jackal series with an all new coverstock, Coercion XFS Reactive. The inside however, utilizes the same successful Asymmetrical Predator Core that was found in the original Jackal and discontinued Raptor series.

Reaction: I tend to really like asymmetrical pieces, especially with solid covers, so I was excited for this release...The Jackal Carnage is the most hook I've ever had in my hands. The only downfall I see in asymmetrical balls is they limit how deep I can play because they tend to get so forward when exiting the pattern, in which causes carry issues. The Jackal Carnage out of the box hooks very soon, but it does not stop when it's time to read the middle and back part of the lane. The continuation of this ball is unbelievable for having such a strong arcing motion. Layout #1 60X5.5X35 (Pin up) is straighter through the front and had a controlled change in direction. Still plenty strong and plenty early and the better choice for me on house patterns, although it still forced me to play pretty deep. Layout #2 45X5X65 P3 Hole (Pin down) started much sooner in the front and middle part of the lanes with a smoother arcing motion, but still again, very continuous. I can see this ball being utilized more on tougher patterns and actually opening them up a little when they are flatter without sacrificing carry.

Comparisons: Everything else in my bag hooks less than the Jackal Carnage. To put it in perspective, even the original Jackal was 4-5 boards less than the Carnage. It also has more shape down lane than a Forza or Revolt Havoc, but the original Jackal still provides a faster response when encountering friction. I still also see a lot of use for my original Jackal though, as there will be times when the Jackal Carnage is just too early and too strong. With that, I can also say just as with all MOTIV pieces, the coverstocks are very adjustable.

Summary: Overall, this ball is going to force you left of everything you have. It will allow you to still control the lane and provide a great motion through the pins resulting in very good carry. I think continuation has become MOTIV’s trademark shape.
