No cleaner will keep box finish, the surface grit becomes higher when you throw the ball. You have to use an abralon or other pad to bring the surface back to box finish

The box finish on the Ghost is 3000 grit LSS which is 500/1000/2000 abralon.

should have worded it better, should I use power gel clean or power gel scuff?

Power Gel Clean will only assist in removing some of the oil on the surface and maybe a little in the ball, though not quantifiable amounts.

Power Gel Scuff can do a better job of removing absorbed oil and can help keep the surface somewhat rough.  Does not equal a true surface change, but is better than nothing in keeping surface on the ball.

As with any abrasive, amount used and pressure and time will affect ending results.

I use a green Scotch Brite Heavy Duty Scour Pad on my Jackal before bowling and it works great. It really makes this heavy oil ball a "heavy oil ball."
