Cracking problem
« on: November 14, 2009, 07:36:52 AM »
I was just wondering if any one else had any problems. I have the first 2 balls they released and they both cracked around the letters. They both have inserts so will they be replaced. Thanks for any comments.

Yes, I had an SX1 crack right along the "M".  The crack was not associated with anything around the fingers, thumb or X hole.

I had not mentioned this but now I will as I heard of one other and now you also confirm this same situation.  My driller sent it back to his supplier and I got credit.

That is the way both of mine were. The pro shop also had one on the shelf that was cracked. I was just wondering if there is a problem.

It is amazing a couple of people who brag up motiv will not answer a simple question. They read the message and will not respond. I guess maybe there is a problem they don't want to talk about. I will stay away from them for now. Thanks to the one person who answered me. Russ

4:30pm Saturday to 8am Sunday isn't exactly a very long span of time, or one where everyone is on their computer.

Hopefully my answer was satisfactory, sorry it was a a few hours late.

Sorry, I haven't been on this forum in quite some time.  All I can do is state my own experience.  I have three SX1's and two TR2's and none of them have cracked in any way.

Also, I have a friend who is a rep for a major distributor.  I asked him about this and he told me that Motiv has less warranty claims than ANY OTHER BRAND.  Certainly, there will be issues with cracking with any balls.  It could have been a bad batch.

I'm certain that you folks do this, but just in case make certain you bevel all of the holes.  That includes fingers before you put in inserts and the balance hole.

The thing is with these cracks they ran along the m in motiv. They were not any where near the holes. My hope is that these were early balls and there was a problem. Thanks for you input.

I hope so too.  I will say that I have a TX1 where there is a small space between the ball and the logo.  That would crack easily I assume.

However, that is not something I have seen on ANY other Motiv balls.  I'm sure it's like any other new technology, you'll have some growing pains.  I am glad they did it, though.  Motiv balls are the most unique looking balls I have ever seen.

Just received a email from customer service at Motiv. They said there were a few bad ones from a very early run. They have offered to replace with what ever I would like. Sounds like great customer service to me. Russ

If anyone has had a problem with a ball made by Motiv, I urge you to contact them. They have a great customer service department and will surely help you if you've had an issue. This company is here to stay with their great equipment and super customer service.
