Be ready to dominate the desert lane conditions.
What an incredible addition to the tank series, which already has some really impressive pieces. The desert tank raises the bar and takes it to a new level. I’ve put this piece on older wood lanes and it was awesome, shorter patterns it was great and of course the scorched desert conditions it dominated. I’ve fallen in love with the new Motiv addition so quickly, I can’t put it down. This would be a perfect add for any bowler who shoots on wood lanes which break down quickly or those tourney bowlers who need something for later in the blocks. Motiv continues to raise the bar in the bowling industry with every release.

Just a word of advice.  A ball review actually has to contain info on what the ball does.  Instead of actually going in to the review section and posting an actual review, you start a thread telling us your emotional attachment to this ball and that its "awesome in the desert". 

So what does the ball actually do?  What are your specs in terms of ball speed and rev rate?  What layout did you put in the ball?  Anybody on here can see the name "Desert Tank" and tell it is for shorter and lower volume patterns.

In the long run this is not going to help Motiv sell bowling balls.  Details and results will.

Almost all of these company staffers are just drive-by posters. There are a few who aren't, but we can count them on one hand. Off the top of my head I can only think of two company staff guys who will actually read it; Luke Rosdahl and MotivMags.

Does everyone really need to start a new topic for their review? There are, by my count, five separate topics for the Desert Tank. Especially when their “review” is just a copy-and-paste of a press release.

Hey, man!  It was worth a shot I guess.  I like how you used the term "drive by posters".  Never really thought of it that way and kind of funny.  But it makes sense.  There is unfortunately a lot of this that goes on instead of actually going in to the review section.  Another gentleman actually PM me right before you posted this and said thank you for saying something because it is getting old.  But I guess it is something we will just have to continue to deal with.

Here's the plain truth.

It's the company's fault. When staffers get a deal, part of the deal is to go out and register with several bowling sites (this one included) post a favorable review of their newest product, and send the link to their boss. For that, they get points towards their budget. Basically it's free "money" for them, and the VAST majority of them don't give a flying fornication about what you as a ballreviews member think. So when you see CompanynameFirstname posting about a ball, just ignore it.

Obviously, there are those of us that are actually, you know ... Honest. StormLuke, MotivMike, the artist formerly known as GlobalMe. It betters no one to just be a shill.

Oh, I'm not trying to group myself with Mags and Luke, they're rock stars and I respect their opinions (Even if Luke uses that Utah stuff lol) but ill be honest here for a minute.

Back when the Dream came out and the whole 900 Global lineup was changed because Global Foundries had been half sold to Storm and the covers had changed to 74 Response and 78 Dig (man, I hated the Moxie), I messaged Mags on Facebook. I asked him what I should put together. So that was about 2015/2016. He gave his honest opinion and I thanked him. If I had asked some shill about it, they would have tried to tell me the whole line was the bomb.

So I'll tell you what I currently see on the landscape.

To me, the Volitility and Torque look REALLY good. Like, stupid good for assyms. I'm upset I didn't get one. Aspect looks very Moxie Truthy. Really slow downlane. Meh. Afterburner, you can't go wrong with that core unless you majorly screw up the cover. Revival, I don't know... The OG HB was good enough, and they probably had to make a revival because nothing from SA got carried over.

Right now, I have nothing in the bag (literally, I have a Rogue Assassin nib waiting for me in my closet), and will probably buy too many Motiv balls at first because a majority of them look good. Alpha, Ghost, Flash, Nemesis, Fire, Assassin, Supra, Shock, Covert, Blitz, Desert, new Thrill... They all look good. And I'll give you my honest opinion as always. If I ever become a shill, I give northface permission to come out to my neck of the woods, beat me about the head and neck and video it all for your entertainment.

One other thing. In the 18 months I was on staff, I never sent a link to my boss to get "credit" not did I ever fluff anything. That isn't my gig, never will be. My integrity is worth more than some credit towards some bowling stuff from any company.

FWIW, got some games on my desert today, and i'll preface with out of the box it looked and felt like it was 500 grit, so I took it (as well as my Covert and Blitz) that all have the same layouts and hit them with 1000-2000-3000 grits to make sure the covers acted the same.

Blitz was a good 5 board with my feet stronger to the same break point, the Desert and Covert actually allowed me to stand in the same spot looking at the same thing, with the Covert being much more round (that core is strong and flares a ton in it), while the desert went a bit longer and changed direction a bit more.

I hate to use the comparison, but a lot of people ask, the Desert shapes the most like a Purple Hammer visually, strength wise, I won't go that far, and I only tossed it for a bit this evening. Hoping to catch a fresh pair and be by myself on Saturday so I can get some video of all three MCP balls.

Alright guys. Have to say. First things first. Just wow. Look at this thing. First thing I notice about the ball is that it’s round. Like really round. It’s crucial to be this round to get to the pins. But last that, it’s GOLD!!!!  Not like real gold, but gold color. It’s beautiful. But what really stands out about it? The logo man, it’s jet black, it’s got the iconic tank logo in jet black man. It’s amazing. And it’s got a little cute circle on it that’s also black. And you put your finger holes near it, if you use finger grips, I’d suggest black to really crush those pins. And the name Desert is in the title. Deserts are dry, so this is your go to piece when the lanes are dry, because people refer to dry lanes as a desert, and desert is in the name of the ball.   So if you’re needing a dry lane ball, because desert is in the title, this is obviously your ball. And I’m he word tank is also in the title, because it hits like a tank. So it’ll crush pins on a dry lane. This is a must have for dry lanes when you wanna crush pins!!!!
