After much deliberation, I'm drilling an Octane. It's just exactly the shape I need, I'm picturing a polished Revolt with a lot of pop on the backend. For me at least, the Revolt if polished gets a ton of length and has a really smooth backend, but I can't play much angle with it (obviously). I want that same type of length and continuation, but something I can get deep with. I currently have the Revolt, an Uproar, and the Tribal. Revolt and Tribal are drilled 70x4.5x35, and the Uproar is 65x4.75x55. I was thinking 65x5.25x45 for the Octane. I can see a lot of total hook overlap there, and possible shape overlap with the Uproar, but I don't see both overlapping with anything else. Shape will be similar to the Uproar but I'm seeing a stronger backend read and a few boards more hook. It will most likely replace the Revolt in the bag for league, because I don't need that much hook and rarely need that shape. Thoughts?

How do you think it will react compared to you Primal Rage?

The Rage is gone, I traded it for the Uproar. It was flaring out on me and I didn't want to plug it. Motiv balls really flare off the planet for me for some reason. I know the Rage and Revolt have high differentials, but man they both were nuts. The Revolt still acts fine, but the Rage would get to 40 feet and almost look like it started rolling backwards.
How do you think it will react compared to you Primal Rage?

The Revolt is a great piece which is their med heavy oil. It is somewhat similar to the Marvel S. The Rage is awesome but you have to have head oil. Even with it's high RG and high diff it does roll strong in the mids and has a sharp back end. I got to throw the Octane more recently and for a hybrid ball it's not bad. You need the heads to breakdown before you can use it but it does have a nice back end. It has more of an angular arc to it. Motiv has a great line up and i am really impress so far. The thing that sticks out the most is that i have not seen a single Motiv ball with a crack between the bridge or around the thumb or fingers. The ball has great durability.

Oh they will crack just like any other ball manufacturer. I had a Sigma Sting crack that wasn't even drilled.

Lol I don't need heads to break down for it where I'm at, both houses I start with my Tribal playing 15 (arrows) to 6.

I am now into week #2 of my fall/winter leagues, in which I am trying Motiv for the first time. Got a Motiv Octane from my Summer Have-a-Ball league, and tried a more stacked leverage drilling (normally I have everything drilled with pin above ring finger with CG kicked out about an inch over from pin).
I can truly say that I love the control and hit of this ball. Originally I was worried that it may be a bit flippy on the back end, but that is not the case. I am truly enjoying this ball and look forward to trying some of their other equipment. The new "Jackal" looks like a pretty good piece to try next for heavier oil.
