Forge Fire ?
« on: September 13, 2019, 04:01:26 PM »
Three reviews read so far and all three claim "benchmark" status for this ball. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Motiv just release a "benchmark" ball in the Rogue Assassin?

BTW, Love the Assassin!  ;D

Milo, for me the Forge Fire is a benchmark ball for medium and heavy oil conditions. The Fire is not too early, is not overly clean, it provides a strong midlane read without being too smooth and it also provides a strong shape downlane without being too angular. It is a ball that will help you read the lanes and that’s why I’ve called a benchmark ball.

The Rogue Assassin, which is another ball that can be considered "benchmark" is a great ball to build your arsenal around. It is exactly in the middle of the chart and I feel is it can be used as a benchmark ball depending on your style and the pattern you are bowling on. Overall, the Assassin is weaker and smoother than the Fire.

I know you’ll try the Forge Fire soon, and I am sure you are going to agree with me. Ball is really good.

Thanks Angel. I wasn't critical of your review, just curious about what Motiv decided to release.

I know! I just wanted to make my point clear... English is not my first language so sometimes I have a hard time trying to explain myself LOL  ;D

I used the Fire yesterday on a heavier volume house shot and I had to square up a little compared to the review and the ball worked even better... Reminds me a bit of the Revolt Vengeance with more pop downlane...

The videos I've seen on the Fire look pretty good. Original is nice too. Motiv has a good core in the Detonator.

I am a Motiv guy, but they have had issues in the past with having a small gap between their "early roll" ball to their "skid/snap" ball.  This made every ball they made be perceived as benchmark by someone.

I also fell some bowler's idea of benchmark is skewed depending on their conditions.  In theory, I feel the manufacturer is the one who should dictate the benchmark ball.  To me that is the ball you can determine the shot from and make a decision up or down (or shape) from there.  Right smack in the middle.  Could be a different strength/shape depending on manufacturer.

Too many times bowlers will claim some huge asymmetrical as their benchmark but won't have anything to move to if it isn't enough or won't know how far down the lineup they need to go if it is too much.

Edit:

After some thought, I feel maybe my theory may not be correct.  I am guessing some bowlers will never use the extreme options for their style or conditions they see.  In that environment, the benchmark could be the ball that is in the middle of their arsenal and provides an idea of what they need to do based on the balls they have available to them.  For some that could be the Forge Fire while for others it may be a Venom Shock.

Love my Vengeance! Been waiting patiently for them to come out with something to replace it and this looks perfect. I haven't been this excited for a ball release in a long time. Can't wait for mine to get here!
