So that explains Roto Grip. Funny how they both had the same name
-
Looks better than the Roto ones ATLEAST lol
-
when they released the Tag they said there were other balls coming with a graffiti theme, so there you go
and yes much better look than the Rotos
this coming from a big Roto fan
-
Looks like replacements for the Ascent balls, and from the picture it seems like they succeeded on that at least visually. Same core but a new coverstock. The Revolt Vengeance and Venom Shock use variations of the Turmoil coverstock so this new one should be interesting.

this is a weaker version of the Panic''s Pearl cover

Ah, I forgot that ball used it as well. Makes sense though. All of Motiv's lower end stuff has been solid from what I've seen and I expect the Freestyle to follow.

agreed

I didn't care for the Panics MFP coverstock. I haven't bought an Ascent yet, but these have my attention. I was looking for something weaker than the Covra I picked up last night, was thinking Ascent or Rebel Tank. What timing!
What didn't you like about the cover? Was thinking about picking one up on clearance.

It's a shame this isnt coming out sooner. Ive got a few tournaments to bowl and could use a ball for burned lanes

For what it's worth the only ball Motiv has moved into the retired section on their site is the most recent Ascent Apex (Pink/Green). Of course the blue Apex could soon follow since the Freestyle balls have replaced it on their ball chart but it seems like the Ascent Pearl might be sticking around.

All 4 Ascents have been discontinued by my distributor. So I assume Motiv will be taking them all down soon.
-
Has the price been raised $40 more than the ascents.

Pricing through distributor is comparable to the Ascent Apex. So if it matched that performance wise, there will be an entry level hole below the Freestyle as the Apex is sneaky strong.
-
Thanks I miss read what was written.
-
Is the Freestyle replacing both the Ascent and Ascent Apex lines? If they leave the Ascent line and just replace the Ascent Apex line, there would be no hole in the lineup. Right?

Good to know. Seems like it's about time for the Ascent Pearls to be retired anyways. They've been on the market for a while.
If I decide to get a replacement for my Shout it's looking like the Freestyle is the clear frontrunner. As long as the coverstock isn't unexpectedly strong the core numbers match up with what I would be looking for. Now I just have to make a decision on if I actually still want a light oil ball in my bag...
