Description: Chronic Paranoia (noun): Motiv bowling second installment of the Paranoia series featuring the all new Agitator Solid Reactive coverstock and powered by the Oblivion core.

Layout: 60/4/30

Ball Reaction: The overall ball motion was different from the original but I was still beyond satisfied with the results; the Chronic is earlier up front and smoother down lane than the original. Whereas I got a lot of snap down lane out of the original; with the Chronic I get a lot of roll. I really like how I am able to use this ball on heavier patterns due to the bigger Agitator Solid Reactive coverstock.

Comparisons

Paranoia: The standout quality between the two is the overall ball motion throughout the lane; in the Chronic Paranoia the ball motion happens earlier up front and smoother down lane. Upon exiting the pattern is doesn’t produce the sharp angular ball motion that the original provides and I see this as a benefit as it allows me to sit on top of the ball; force feeding it into the pocket without penalization.  The Agitator Solid Reactive cover is stronger than its pearl counterpart and that allows it to handle oil a little better than the original did as it produces more roll than skid, I see the Chronic as a great counterpart as it offers the exact opposite of the original allowing you different angles of attack.

Summary: A recurring theme with Motiv is that we create bowling balls that do as advertised and the Chronic Paranoia does just that, without a doubt it is the exact opposite of the original Paranoia granting you a different shape and reaction throughout the lane. I personally best liked the original at box with our high gloss polish on it, it was ideal for medium to med-light conditions for me however in terms of heavier conditions the original was not an ideal choice. Even in taking down the cover I still found the original too sharp for my liking, the Chronic however is a perfect fit not just for mediums but it can also handle heavier conditions as well. The overall ball motion and continuation of the Chronic Paranoia is a phenomenal compliment to the original Paranoia, and overall it is the stronger and smoother between the two.  I gave into my own Paranoia and now it’s become Chronic, not only has it consumed me but my opponents as well. I encourage you to give in yours as well.

Your game will thank you for it.
