I noticed on PBA's web page on approved equipment, Motiv was listed as Grassroots. What exactly does this entail?

Mostly Senior and regular regionals.
I believe you can also use them in qualifying in regular PBA events (I thought I heard that), but you can't use them on TV. If that scenario is true, why bother using them up to a point, then you have to change brands.

Thanks a lot. I plan on bowling the qualifier for the US Open in Indianapolis (Hometown) this upcoming year. I have drilled at TR2 and planned on drilling at GT1 but was not gonnna do so if new these balls I was drilling would be invaluable to me once February comes around

Unlimited use of cleared bowling balls, apparel and accessories, excluding shoes in PBA Tour Qualifying Rounds*, PBA Regional and Senior Tour competition (excluding any televised competition).
* Grassroots items not permitted during U.S. Open and World Championship competition or on the Lumber Liquidator''''s PBA Tour
That''s the specifics on Grassroots. It seems like there''s a distinction between "Lumber Liquidator’s PBA Tour" and "PBA Tour Qualifying Rounds." What is the latter?

Just because a few people either drilled them wrong or used them on the wrong condition is no reason to condemn and entire line of balls.
