Had this ball had the Trident core, I'd be all over it. Not with this core. It's not really a Trident. Just in name only.

Motiv has been doing a lot of that.

It's like they're scared that another name won't sell. Seems odd.

Maybe they gave up on the Turbulent core as a dud and are trying to revive the Trident line with a new core that truly separates it from Jackal line. Not everyone was a fan of the old Trident line, especially the Abyss and Quest.

The Nemesis did bring a new core in, bur release timing with covid and turning around and using more attractive colors and the same cover on the Jackal Flash got a lot of people to pass on it. Other thing on the logo is Motiv has quite a bit of cost in tooling to do the Neomark so they tend to keep name plates around for a while.

Watched a lot of the WSOB qualifying,  and the Horizon looked like a beefed up Shock, kind of a more angular Ghost type ball. I'm excited to get this one in my hands.

This exactly.  This is the new Trident core.  With the Jackals taking over the Heavy Oil line the Trident has been slotted to the Medium-Heavy line.

and the same cover on the Jackal Flash

The Supra, Ripcord, VIP, Nemesis, Flash and Fatal Venom all use variations on the Infusion cover.

Well, the Trident Abyss with the Turbulent core was my favorite Motiv ball until it was discontinued. I won a tournament and killed it in league with that ball. I hope it makes a return soon.

The Alpha Jackal has the same cover as the Abyss, which is not coming back.

Got to see two of them in person this week, one Motiv is learning how to make balls that have great appearance, the pink pops in this one. Second, it looks a lot punchier downlane than I expected. The cover being just a hybrid of the Flare and Legacy cover had me thinking it'd still be pretty smooth, but the core combo with it had the two I saw turn the corner pretty hard. Way too early to tell where it fits, but it looks like an option between the Ghost and Flash. I'll do some video when mine get here.
