Sorry for the self proclaimed ignorance shown.  But I have been off the lanes and completely blinded to the sport of bowling since 2014.  Around then Motiv released a beautiful ball the “Venom Shock” and coincidentally looked the EXACT same as it does right now.  Can someone just confirm whether this is indeed the same EXACT core, cover, BALL, as the original released back then?  I’m going to guess that it is because it was a ball that just like the OG HyRoad and OG Gamebreaker that was SOOOOO good on just about everything aside from say your 46’ sport shot that I’m going to say Motiv kept in their lineup.  Am I correct?  And if so, did they re release it?  Or did they bring it back out again several years later?   Thanks guys and gals.  It’s good to be back though  :)

It is the same ball. They have not changed the formula on the cover like other companies have done with their mainstays. Instead, they have released stronger or weaker versions with different names (Recoil, Shock Pearl, Panic, Cobra) over the years. Go ahead and grab ya another one.

There have been a couple of different versions of the ball, but if you stick with the original colors(Blueish Purple with Orange Logo) it's the same ball.

If you see one that is a shiny purple with green logos, that is not the same ball...but still a very good option.

Thanks so much for the answer to that guys.  So back then when I quit I’d say the venom shock was (in my opinion of course) Motiv’s flagship ball, an all around workhorse, with that very smooth predictable motion off the spot.  I’d say it was Motivs version of say EBI’s Gamebreaker, or Storms OG IQ tour and just as good as well.  Would you gentlemen agree?  Are there any balls that you  would fit into that same category of rolly and strong but Yet relatively smooth.  With great pin deck continuation?  From any company and could Be as old as 2015 since that’s when I quit bowling.
Cheers gents

Sure is, and i've drilled more of them than I'd like to admit and feel confident in saying they still act like the originals, and in my case that is a very good thing.

I don't have one, but I've always liked how they rolled and reacted when I see other bowlers using them.

After reading this post, now I have to get one.  My center re-opens on Thursday.  Might as well pump some money back into the local economy so I'll be drilling up my own Venom Shock, finally.

I'll concur. Between a Shock, Recoil and Blitz, that core is pretty good looking. Shapes well and doesn't do anything flashy.

My understanding is that the cover HAS been reformulated.  It is more blue today than the purple it was when it was introduced and it hooks a little more today.  The green logo ball the Shock Pearl and is not the same ball at all, pearl cover and different core.

Please, I have one I bought in 2013 and one I bought last fall. I see no difference in color or performance.

And the Venom Shock Pearl is not what the op was about.

I bought my Shock in 2017: purple cover and orange logo. The words "Motiv" and "Shock" are light green.

That's the original. Purple with Orange snake head and light green lettering
