Not a huge surprise since red was incorporated in both the Jackal and Jackal Carnage. Was hoping for something that had a little more... uniqueness to it, but that's not bad.

Already up on the Motiv website too.

http://www.motivbowling.com/products/balls/jackal-le.html

With some interesting ratings.

Length: 12 - Same as the Jackal and Jackal Carnage, one less than the Trident.

Hook: 60 - Three more than the Jackal, two more than the Jackal Carnage, and one more than the Trident.

Backend: 16 - Same as the Jackal Carnage and Trident, .5 less than the Jackal.

Motiv's numbers here are usually pretty accurate, so what we should be looking at is an even stronger Jackal Carnage. It might have a bit different roll to it given the changes to the core, but...  :o

Also has a price listed at $299.99 while the Trident is $259.99. Makes me wonder if some kind of limited quantity is going to be available to buy directly.

Theyll be $199 if they go to the online retailers. They gotta make their money back. They would be stupid to try not to sell it.

Maybe it'll be exclusive for awhile...but they'll "by popular demand" bring to the masses.

So when will we who ordered the LE get the e-mail that it has been sent to the PO and that we can go pick it up now?
Or do I just ask my PO about the ball and give him the number or whatever and then get the ball?

From e-mail with the ticket number:
You will be notified when the exact release date is known. You will also receive other updates as details about this special MOTIV ball release are available.
"*** CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE FOR SALE ***"

Guess that answers my question.
Damn, I'll have a lot of balls for this season :P
Will still use my 2 EBI balls, and getting 2 DV8 balls in September. And then this LE ball.

When I received my first ball I traded in(Revolt Havoc), my PSO and I both got an email when it shipped. And it was delivered directly to the Pro Shop.

Maybe the shops that had stocked up on Jackal Carnages and Jackals will be getting Jackal LEs to replace them too. I haven't paid much attention to that side of the situation.

I wonder how many people are gonna say hey that balls illegal?
Looks just like my Carnage so I'm happy and will drill it up.

They said its replacement only. I'm sure they cringed at having to make it, the cost of materials, perhaps the USBC approval was negotiated as replacement only. Website says not for sale.

It would funny if the ball is a hit and those that could not wait want one, but I Think they wanted one more like the original being Pearl. I had a carnage and wanted a carnage replacement, so I rolled the dice on the waiting for the LE.

Thinking about the .054, guess one could do a layout that takes it up to .058+

I think that once all the replacements go out they will open it up for normal sale to recoup some of the expenses of the balls development.

Anyone heard an ETA on these yet? Not trying to stir the pot, more just trying to make sure I had not missed something.

Thanks!

It is our goal to complete shipping for all Jackal LE balls that were requested through the MOTIV® Ball Exchange Program before the end of September.

end of september. no offense to anyone chill out, its only a bowling ball.
and of course staffers got them first, hoping to make a show to get some free marketing.
people need to relax

It's not about the bowling ball for me. It's about customer service.

Simple and completely accurate.

For those who have shed tears for the staffers, arguing they should have had first dibs on the LE, consider they've already had access to the Trident for a few months. In the BJI review of the Trident, they say "The Trident is a good replacement for the Jackals, fitting between the two". Meaning that staffers didn't need the LE to immediately fill a heavy oil hole for tournament competition.

Perception is everything in business, and the perception that screwed Jackal customers can get in the back of the line is not good.

Exactly right Steven.

Customer Service is easy, until there is a problem. Then you see if a company really does have good customer service or not. And at this time, I would give give Motiv a D+

That confuses me.  If the ball will not be for sale, then why the need for exposure on tv?

I understand the complaints pertaining to customer service.  I can see how some would be upset if some staffers got the ball before customers.  And I would agree that staffers that get free equipment shouldn't get the ball before those that paid.

But most of the staffers are customers too.  They pay for their equipment just like regular customers do.  They may pay a little less, but that doesn't mean they aren't entitled to the same benefits of regular customers.  If two people bought the same product and one had a coupon for 30% off, he doesn't get 30% less customer service.  He gets all of it, just like staffers who paid for their equipment and submitted for replacement should get their equipment when their name comes up.

Now, if staffers who paid are getting their names put at the front of the line, then that isn't right.  Motiv hopefully is sending out replacements based on the order of requests.

I guess what upsets me the most about the wait, is that right now I have a gap in my arsenal on the heavy oil end. I had that filled last winter by purchasing a Carnage and absolutely loved it. Then, not only does the ball get yanked just before our league season finishes (absolutely horrible timing) and I have no heavy oil ball for the playoffs, but now our league has already started again and I still have no heavy oil ball. Figured after the season was over last year that I'd have it by the time leagues started again... :( Right now I have my Forza at 1000 grit trying to fill the gap...and while it works, it doesn't work like a true heavy oil ball would. I don't have a ton of money for equipment so buying a heavy oil ball temporarily while I wait for the LE isn't feasible... Motiv needs to get their butts in gear....

Nope, just the weight. So it could be anything. Which of course I will bitch about if it's way out of wack.
