hello, I've been out of the game for a very long time and I'm just getting back to bowling on a regular basis. Having done some research I really, really like the line of balls that Motiv has to offer...both from a visual stand point as well as a quality and action stand point.
I'm an experienced but not great bowler...average in the 160s...and this will be my first reactive resin purchase. I'm leaning toward a venom toxin due to the fact that its flare potential is not nearly as substantial. I figured this would be a good purchase as it would probably be a little more forgiving with some added versatility.
I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions....if this seems like a wise purchase...or perhaps there is another Motiv option that can provide the versatility I'm looking for a first reactive resin without being too much ball to handle. Overall I'm looking for preferably a polished resin with at least decent movement but overall control that is designed for med-dry lanes. I figure this would be the best starting point...and once I've worked with it and have it down I can then expand into another Motiv ball with more action designed for heavier oiled lanes.

the new sigma sting looks interesting and might fit the bill

For what you have described, the Venom Toxin is a perfect choice.

I switched to throwing mostly Motiv towards the end of this past summer. The Venom Toxin is the first ball I had drilled up and it's what got me hooked. I now have the Venom Strike, Primal Rage, Tribal, and Cruel Intent. I have a Sigma Sting and another Cruel Intent arriving possibly tomorrow and I've put in an order for the Covert Revolt. The Primal Rage has been my main go to ball, but I've scored well with all of them. Just shot a 280 last night with the Toxin.
I'd recommend going with the Toxin as a starting ball. It's a really good piece.

Thanks to all for the quick replies...looks like a Toxin it will be. I'm a little disappointed that from what I've seen...it's not as bright as the display pictures...but a striking looking ball. Maybe I'm a silly sucker...but ball appearance matters to me. It's what got me looking into Motiv...so many of their choices are visually impressive combined with real good quality from the research I've done.

To me this is not a good reason to purchase bowling equipment. Ever.

i agree with u scottt got to look at the numbers etcetc....but most people dont look at it like that....i bought my wife a toxin based 0ff her two favorite colors plus good ball to start into finger tip drilling with grips and slug....figured wont be that hard to handle...see since she throws 12lbs numbers drop off...but to origanl poster i believe u made the right choice based of your logic...but after that i would talk to your local proshop going forward purchases and thats the person put right ball in your hands...i even go to my guy all the time been bowling almost ten years....

I think the Venom Toxin would be an excellent first purchase.

Agree with everyone that the Toxin would be a great starting point. Definitely made for the lighter side of oil, and has a lot of the versatility you're looking for. Takes surface changes very well and reacts according to the surface prep.

P.S. it is cool looking too, nice bonus..

Thanks again for the replies. And yes...looks is a terrible reason to buy a ball. Which is why I said that it got me looking at Motiv..but I assuredly would never buy a ball based off just something like that. That's why I did a lot of research to determine if the specs of the ball combined with the conditions of the lanes I bowled on were a good match.
Thanks again for those chiming in.
