If you have been following this page for a while, you probably know that I am a huge fan of the original Jackal. When I first got it I felt like I was cheating since the ball always worked great for me. I've been having the same feeling since I got the Crimson Jackal.
We tried this ball on our typical house shot and the ball does exactly as advertised. The Crimson Jackal is clean through the front part of the lane, with a strong and angular backend motion.
What makes this ball unique is that the Predator V2 core provides a strong midlane read, making it more controllable and stronger than other asymmetrical pearls in the market, and somehow, the Crimson Jackal still have tons of energy to make a strong move down the lane.
The Crimson Jackal is an easy ball to read. After a couple of shots I realized that I needed to play deeper than usual since the combination of core and coverstock is quite strong to play around my comfort zone. Once I got lined up and found the breakpoint, I got really, really comfortable with this ball.
The Crimson Jackal allowed me to swing the ball to watch it come back from almost anywhere. Misses outside offered a lot of recovery, I just had to make sure to not miss outside too soon. Misses inside were almost as effective as misses inside.
As you can see in the video review, I was able to play different parts of the lane and the Crimson Jackal always had a strong downlane reaction. It is definitely a versatile piece.
This ball will be a great option when you need to create more shape down the lane in medium and heavy oil conditions. The Crimson Jackal will be a great step down from balls like the Jackal Ambush or the Raptor Fury and a step up from other pearlized balls in the lineup like the Nuclear Forge or the Ripcord Launch.
Overall I feel this is a great addition to the Motiv lineup.
This is by far the most angular piece in the Jackal line and it provides a shape that Motiv was lacking of.
Low speed and low rev bowlers will love this ball. The Crimson Jackal provides easy length and a strong motion in the last part of the lane.
High speed and high rev bowlers will be able to play from almost any part of the lane without sacrificing carry even from steeper angles.
