I tested this ball on our typical house shot pattern (Kegel Main Street 41’) and the Forge allowed me to play in my comfort zone through all the session. I started laying down the ball inside the second arrow and the Forge provides a strong and early roll that promotes a smooth transition with great continuation when it exits the pattern.
The Forge allowed me to keep the pocket in front of me with great results. The ball provides a strong midlane read and a smooth and predictable backend motion. If I had to use only one word to define the Forge that word would be SMOOTH.
The ball is forgiving when I missed my mark, I just had to make sure to not miss too far left or the ball won’t have enough recovery to hit the pocket. Misses inside were more forgiving and the ball provided enough hold to stay in line to the pocket. To be honest, I felt that I just needed to throw the ball half decent and the Forge did the rest, it is more forgiving than I thought it would be.
For me, the Forge will be a great benchmark ball. The ball is so easy to read and it is the perfect ball to start with and depending on what I see I can stay with it or do the proper adjustments.
The Forge provided enough hook through the oil to create enough angle down lane. When I read that the Forge was going to be close to the Revolt Havoc I was a bit worried that it was going to be a tad lazy down lane but I was wrong. The Forge has more shape than the Revolt Havoc, for me the down lane motion reminds me more of the original Covert Revolt while it still has that early read like the Havoc had.
I had a great look with this ball playing in my comfort zone and I was able to move right and the ball still had enough recovery to hit the pocket. However, when I got to the third arrow later in the review session I had to be really accurate to hit the pocket consistently. I feel that the Forge is a great ball to control the breakpoint and a great option to play on fresh, but when you need to open up the lane, Motiv has better options like the Villain Scorn or the Rogue Blade to play steeper angles and create more shape down the lane.
The Forge will fit into a lot of different bowling styles and it will be a ball that can be used on a great variety of conditions. On a house shot, this ball will be a great option to use on fresh oil and to blend the pattern and fight wet/dry conditions. The Forge will also be a great ball for the tournament bowler. It will be a great weapon to use when you need to control the breakpoint and when you need a smoother motion down the lane.
It is a great complement to the Trident Abyss when the ball reads too early or is too much ball, the Forge will come in play if you want to keep the same shape.
Whether you are a league bowler or a tournament bowler, the Forge is definitely a ball worth having in your bag. Thank you for watching!

I tossed my Forge a few times Saturday and my results were somewhat different than yours.
Throwing the same line as a high flush pocket hit with the Rogue Blade, my Forge hit the 2-4 pocket instead. Part of the difference is probably the inconsistent factory finish Motiv seems to be unable to correct. Mine was very dull out of the box. I would guess it was probably somewhere around 1500 just by appearance.
I need to give it my own surface and try it again before I will get much use from it.

I agree, the Forge reads the lane at least 2 or 3 feet earlier than the Rogue Blade, being stronger and has a stronger midlane read compared to the Rogue Blade.
Now that you mentioned the surface, mine is not as dull as I thought it was going to be, maybe that has something to do with it... Mine looks like a 2000-3000 finish and it works great.
I used yesterday while bowling a league and the ball reminded me a lot of my beloved Forza, it has the same earlier read, but it has more downlane motion, kind of like a Covert Revolt. My scores were average because I lost focus in a lot of shots, but when I was focused and threw a decent shot, the ball was really, really consistent and forgiving. I am bowling again tonight and I am pretty excited to see what can I do if I can stay focused for more than 5 frames in a row lol ;D
