I got a chance to take one out for a spin. It reminded me alot of the seismic desperado very clean through the fronts then a nice pronounced move coming off the pattern. It did have alot of pop for a ball designed for low oil.. which was my gripe with alot of weak balls, as some heat like a wet noodle.. this one hit pretty good. Not bad for a 83 dollar ball. I really liked how if I missed inside it held its line and if it hit the dry it still have the same gradual motion. The storm natural was the exact opposite in my hands.. it just leaped off the dry and in my opinion was too strong for what its intention was.

Oddly, the 12 and 13 lb balls have the largest differential with almost the same RG. Fascinating.

doesn't look like a dry lane/short oil ball at all unless those lanes were completely toasted...

In case any of you missed it, here are his notes about the balls he used and the sequence:

The first few shots are with a tx1 box surface with a rico drill to use as a gage for the next two balls thrown.
Next are 2 of the new RECON RX1. The first has a 5 3/8 pin, which puts the pin 1 1/2 in above my middle finger. The next has a 4 in pin which is above and slightly to the right of my ring finger.
If you notice the first set of shots with the long pin RECON, it stores more energy and pops more on the backend. Notice the first couple shots where I'm able to get away with some missed shots left and right.
The 2nd RECON is smoother and more controlable off the friction. Both are in box finish in this video. I'll lay down cheetah in the next couple days and shoot some video of the RECONs on that.

Nice vid. I was really considering the ball but was worried when it was compared to a sling shot or power groove. It looks like a little more hook and maybe more comparable to the Avalanche series. I throw mostly Brunswick so that is what I have to judge off of.

Looking forward to seeing the ball on a fresh shot.

tywithay,
This is a dry lane/short oil ball.  The lanes I was bowling on was a broken down league shot, but by no means toasted.  I can generate a lot of revs, and can make weaker balls hook more than others.
This ball is weaker than the rest of the current motiv line-up.  It gets down the lane well (because of the X coverstock).  The difference is in the core.  The core allows this ball to be more controled and smooth at the break point and overall a little weaker than the tx1 and sx1.  Anyone looking for a good dry lane ball would be wise to check this ball out.  And it stands out on the ball rack also
