Motiv Sky Raptor video and written review

First of all, I declare myself a huge fan of the Raptor series. When I first got into bowling, the Raptor Talon was one of my first balls and it has been one of my all time favorites. The Sky Raptor is completely the opposite from the Talon, but this is not necessarily a bad thing. This ball is the real deal.

We tried this ball on our typical house shot and the ball does exactly as advertised. The Sky Raptor is clean through the front part of the lane, with a strong, angular backend motion.

What makes this ball unique is that the Affliction V2 core provides a strong midlane read, making it more controllable and stronger than other pearls in the market, and somehow, the Sky Raptor till have tons of energy to make a strong move down the lane.

The Sky Raptor is an easy ball to read. After a couple of shots I realized that I needed to play deeper than usual since the combination of core and coverstock is quite strong to play around my comfort zone. Once I got lined up and found the breakpoint, I got really, really comfortable with this ball.

The Sky Raptor allowed me to swing the ball to watch it come back from almost anywhere. Misses outside offered a lot of recovery, I just had to make sure to not miss outside too soon. Misses inside were almost as effective as misses inside as you can see in one of the shots. The Sky Raptor digs through the oil and has a strong move when it finds some friction. I was able to play different parts of the lane and the Sky Raptor always had a strong downlane reaction. It is definitely a versatile piece.

This ball will be a great option when you need to create more shape down the lane in medium and heavy oil conditions. The Sky Raptor will be a great step down from balls like the Jackal Ghost or the Mythic Jackal and a natural step up from other pearlized balls in the lineup like the Iron Forge.

Overall I feel this is a great addition to the Motiv lineup.

This is by far the most angular piece in the Raptor line and I would say in the Motiv lineup, providing a shape that Motiv was lacking of.

Low speed and low rev bowlers will love this ball. The Sky Raptor provides easy length and a strong motion in the last part of the lane.

High speed and high rev bowlers will be able to play from almost any part of the lane without sacrificing carry even from steeper angles.

Tournament bowlers will find in the Sky Raptor a great piece for the transition in flat patterns and sport shot conditions.

Thank you for watching!
