What balls to get if I'm...
« on: January 27, 2015, 08:28:18 PM »
A left bowler with the following stats:

PAP 4" x 3/4+
Axis Rotation 80º
Axis Tilt 5º
Speed 16.26 mph
Revs 160

And I'm looking for a ball for heavy oil and also a ball for light to medium conditions for when the lanes start to break down. I already Have the Sigma Sting for medium oil.

Suggestions?

The Tribal Fire could work, however, I feel like you or your PSO would need to be really careful on selecting a layout.  If you take the Fire and drill it for length you'd probably see too much length.

I personally feel like the core in the Venom series is a little more versatile than the Tribal core. I would still suggest a Venom Panic #1 with a simple layout and let the ball do the work or go with the Venom Shock as option #2 but give it a weaker layout and polish it

Yes, that is what worries me about the Fire, that it can be too long for me... I'm leaning towards the Panic as well, something in between the Fire and the Shock with a layout that allows me to read the lanes cleaner but not with the same lenght as the Fire... And for the heavy oil, reading the BTM I just realized how much of a great ball for heavy conditions the Aura Paranormal is, I've been using that ball for THS with great results, but it is also a great ball for heavy conditions. So maybe I will fill the heavy oil spot in my arsenal with the AP and will look for a good complement of the Sting for medium conditions, something like the Revolt, Forza or Vengeance  ;D

Thanks so much for your help! Looking forward to see more videos of the Panic!

Sorry for late reply. Have now tested the Jackal on London, Montreal and Seoul.

I find the difference extreme between the covert and the jackal. The jackal really reads the lanes early but does not burn up. It was the perfect suite for me on London. If I need just a little bit more backend I only get a little more side rotation "not much is needed" The Covert as I stated earlier went further then I thought but is a very good compliment. I am going to try to shine it up just a bit now when I have the jackal.

In my state you don't need to work on the surface on the jackal. At least not more surface. I would more likely like it a bit more shine if any change that i would do.

On Montréal i could not get the best look with the jackal. The covert looked much better not to mention the IQ or the primal. On Seoul i did not think the jackal would work but i looked awesome. Played straight on 6-7 board. It turned and died but it brought down the pins amazingly well. Not sure i will use this. Probably the IQ is the go to ball on Seoul on fresh oil. Playing this weekend on Seoul in the Swedish 3 man championships finals.
