Motiv Venom Recoil video and written review
« on: March 18, 2019, 11:47:59 PM »

The Venom Shock is probably my favorite bowling ball of all time. My 2 perfect games has been shot with the Venom Shock and my highest series has been also shot with the Venom Shock, so I got pretty excited when I heard about the Venom Recoil.

The Venom Recoil uses a different core than the one found on the Venom Shock (Gear core) and the Venom Shock Pearl (Top Gear core). The Venom Recoil uses the new Gear APG core which is the first asymmetric ball in the Venom line.

When I first read about that I was skeptical on how a completely different core was going to provide a similar shape to the balls in the Venom line, and after throwing the ball for almost two weeks now, I am pleasantly surprised.

I started laying the ball around 15 and having 6 or 7 as my breakpoint and the ball never missed the pocket. When I missed left the ball had enough energy to make it back to the pocket with light hits, while missing inside weren't as forgiving as when I missed outside.

The ball is definitely stronger than advertised. I was able to play from different angles. I was able to play in my comfort zone and I was also able to play deeper lines than with the Venom Shock. Usually with my low rev rate, playing around 15 for me results in flat seven pins or light hits, but not with the Venom Recoil. If I need to play even steeper angles and the Recoil is not enough then I go to balls like the Rogue Blade or the Golden Jackal.

I love using my Venom Shock, but sometimes the ball reads the lane too early and when I have to move in then is not enough ball. The Recoil provides me with the same shape of the Shock, but it is has more length and more shape down the lane.

I've been using this ball lately in leagues and so far I am really impressed with it. This is a great ball for the transition because it gives you easy length and a strong, but controllable backend motion.

I have used it on fresh too in a house where there is a lot of friction and the Recoil blends the wet/dry quite nicely.

If you need to ball down from stronger pieces like the Abyss or the Forge, the Venom Recoil is a great option to have in your bag. You won't be disappointed.

The Venom Recoil has a similar shape to the Venom Shock. The biggest difference between the two is that the Recoil is cleaner and it has a stronger downlane motion without being angular. Overall, I feel that the Recoil is a tad stronger than the Shock. The Recoil has more shape down the lane. It is not too early and it is not as angular like the Venom Shock Pearl.

The Venom Recoil It is a great benchmark ball to be used on medium and lighter oil conditions. This ball will fit into a lot of bowling styles and it complements the Venom Shock perfectly.

Motiv was long overdue by not having an asymmetric piece in the mid range of their lineup and with this ball definitely delivered.

Thank you for watching!

It looks really good. I'm definitely considering it as a ball up from my Tag Cannon this summer

This ball may be my Venom shock replacement, as I LOVE the midland control it provides on more oil, while maintaining its controllable downlane motion.  Great video!

So far I like the ball a lot. My arsenal now is a Golden Jackal, Forge and a Venom Recoil. Definitely a ball up from the Cannon, stronger, earlier and smoother.

Yes, I feel this one handles more oil than the Shock, while keeping a similar shape downlane, I've been using it as a step down from my Forge and it works amazing!

Thanks!

Good info on what your seeing on our side of the lane; This definitely will be my next purchase, as a guy I know in my league has one, and he just DESTROYS the pattern with this piece.

Thanks again for such a quality, informed, and OBJECTED review.

I just used the Recoil in one of the houses that I really HATE bowling. Everything hooks early, it is extremely dry on the outside part of the lane and too much oil in the middle part. The Recoil worked pretty well blending out the pattern, I was able to have more margin of error than with other balls that I usually bring with me for league.

I really like that this ball is not early, not too late either. It is becoming my benchmark ball and since it is really easy to read it is the perfect ball to see how the pattern looks.

Let me know how the Recoil works for you and I am glad I am able to help!
