Found some information out there on a supplier website, bringing back the Quad fire core which was last used with the Octane series I believe
"To develop the debut pearl edition, we have been working
closely with EJ Tackett to create a special bowling ball that stands apart in
our product line. For the VIP™ we are bringing back with one of EJ’s
favorite MOTIV® cores to create angle down lane – the Quadfire™. It is
merged with our latest cover technology to create a medium oil pearl that
delivers outstanding length and a very angular backend motion. Because
this pearl VIPâ„¢ is being developed alongside EJ Tackett it will also bear his
ExJ brand logo."

Was there a good Octane ball? I think the last one was decent but that's an odd choice to bring back and hype up as Motiv's version of the Belmo line.
-
I loved the Octane Carbon, but it wasn't the Quadfire core. The Octane was okay with a bit of surface, but the stated "box" surface made it too unpredictable.
Bring back the QuadFire!

After thinking about it, I liked the blue Octane also, if I remember correctly it was the Octane Burn. That was a good ball.
-
EJ loved the Octane. This isn't a shock. As always, knock the shine off the Infusion cover, and reapply polish if needed. I remember watching the Octane videos and liking the motion.
-
I didn't think that ball looked like anything special when EJ threw it over the summer.

EJ said he hadn't practiced and the ball didn't matter at all, he wasn't in bowling shape. Give it a little time and we'll see what it's actually like, he loved the Octane, but as we've seen with signature balls from other brands, they aren't always as good as the sum of their parts.

Motiv claims this is a limited release, BowlersMart.com claims there will be "only about 500" of this made.
Not sure I buy that(but did buy one of the balls), but it got me to thinking, will there be a market for 500 of these?

How many T10LE's were made?

How many T10LE's were made?
Good question. They sure didn't seem to be a big seller. I still see them for sale and usually not at big mark-up.

I believe the Primal Rage LE sold more than the T10 LE. Personally I love my T10 LE for medium-heavy.
The VIP is to close to the Supra IMO and overlaps.

Is this the same core from the QZ1?

Sure is!

Only 500 made. I don't even see it on Motiv's ball guide.

Mine is on the way. Probably won't drill it for a while though

I'll let ya'll know. Non-staffer BTW. :D

MJS - that’s incorrect. 3500 were made and 1000 went overseas alone. So 2500 stateside. Bowlerx.com had 360+ pre orders alone.

I suspected BowlersMart was fibbing when they claimed "Only 500 will be made".
It didn't stop me from buying one though.
-
Yeah Bowlersmart's website initailly said "500 or so" and that has now been changed to say "limited release". Got mine and the swag from bowlerx but I don't think I'm going to drill it.

The VIP from Motiv is the first ball in collaboration with EJ Tackett and boy is it a special piece. I'm trying to recommend this piece to everyone that is looking for a cleaner ball that can be used towards the end of league or a tournament. This ball features one of our cleanest, and responsive covers which is the infusion pearl reactive cover which really clears the front, and really kicks down lane. For people that loved the Octane, this ball features the same core as the Octane but with an updated cover. I drilled my VIP with a 4 inch pin to my PAP and a 70 degree VAL angle which ended up putting the pin under my ring finger. Despite the stronger pin, this ball easily gets down the lane and still recovers from anywhere. This ball is great when you have to move left at the end of a tournament and get your ball down the lane and still flip hard enough to get the corners out. What's also amazing is that this cover takes to surface adjustments great! So if your VIP is going too long, don't be afraid to take an abralon pad to it. Get your hands on this special limited edition piece before it's gone!
