New Motiv balls
« on: October 06, 2021, 09:59:50 PM »
I used my usual layouts on the Supra Enzo and the new Pride.

The Enzo is truly a winner for me. Easy length and control. Great balls to make moves deeper.

I have had the Pride for three weeks. I am on third surface adjustment and for me, the ball is a turd. It's lazy getting down the lane and then hits like a truck, if the truck was parked at the bottom of a lake.  ;D

It's the rare ball that just doesn't work for me at all, as it's a wasted space in my bag.

Your results may vary.

Always enjoy your assessments Milo.

Pride is one to me that has seemed like people will either love it or hate it

Thanks.
I bowl a couple of leagues with a Motiv staffer who posts reviews here. He loves the Pride and has scored well on a house shot and a flatter, longer pattern as well. On the same conditions, it's a dud in my hands. I will shelve it for now and try it again at a later date.

I got both balls, along with the Velocity, last week. For me, the Pride is easily the best of the 3. A step up from the Shock, but a little earlier and smoother. The Velocity is on the other end. Long and flippy. The Enzo looked good last week, but this week it was way too early and flippy on lanes that were hooking more than usual. My plan is to knock the shine off to smooth it out a bit and it should fit right in the middle - especially now that I see the Velocity is the clear skid/slip ball.

The Venom Shock is my favorite ball ever made. I've owned a number of them over the years. I can already see the Pride being right there with it. I do like the Enzo, but I feel it's a little more situational. And the Velocity even more so.

Yea, I see the Pride working well for others, which kinda pisses me off that it doesn't for me.  ;D

And I totally agree on the Velocity, can't think of a condition where I would have success with that schizophrenic beast.

Pride is early, really early for me, kind of reminds me of the original forza.
So far haven't shot anything huge, but it's been a great avoid trouble piece on the fresh in league, need to get more games on it to really long term assess, but it fits between the ghost and shock, but that isn't a hole I often felt like I had in my bag.

Enzo though, that's a ball that's wild to me, clears the fronts so well, but picks up way more consistently downlane than the other flippy motiv pieces, I've gotten a ton of use from mine and it's definitely my favorite piece I've drilled this year.

I've got some videos of the pride and other releases here:

I found use for the Velocity this past sunday. I couldn't keep the Pride or Enzo on the right side of the head pin. Struggled the first game. Missed spares on top of it. Shot 145. Switched to the Velocity and 278 2nd game. Left a 4-7 in the 9th. Had a couple splits/opens in the 3rd but still shot 209 with it. Not sure what they did to the shot there (I know they've been making changes), but both nights hooked a ton this week. As a rev dominant two hander, it's definitely a challenge.

Anyway, I took the shine off the Enzo and brought it back up to 4000 by hand. It will probably be good in a different environment, but on that shot, it's just a little too early and flippy. Definitely a much stronger ball than advertised. I'll try it again tonight at a different house.
