New Motiv High End Asymmetrical! Coming in August.
« on: June 17, 2016, 06:16:12 PM »
Was just snooping around bowler x.com I noticed they had the motiv trident listed on there. It will be the new replacement for the jackals, their high-end asymmetrical release. It shows release date of August, the ball looks to be black with light blue no marks.

The LE ball is waiting for the USBC's final decision about reinstatement. The Trident is the new catalog asymmetrical ball going forward. Once we know the results of the USBC appeal, the balance of the exchange program will be sorted.

Trust me, we want this resolved just as badly as you do.

So is there a time frame for that?

What if there is no budging from USBC?
In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]
*Now Testing* IQ Ruby, Renevant, another IQ Tour solid
Coming soon...???

The timeframe is whenever the USBC announces their decision. Now that the Open tournament and Bowl Expo is over, hopefully an announcement of some form will come soon.

If they are reinstated, the LE won't be needed. If they aren't, balls will be made and go out to those that chose the LE through the exchange program.

This is the same procedure that has been outlined since the beginning of the program, the only uncertainty is timelines.

Since the hearings between Motiv and the USBC are over, what were the reasons that Motiv used for reinstatement? Telling us now won't alter the USBC's decision since they already have every piece of information they need.
Balls: Motiv Forza GT, Motiv Primal Rage Remix, Motiv Ascent Pearl and Motiv (On The Ball) spare ball.. All made in the USA.

I couldn't begin to tell you. The only people that are privy to all of the accurate information is the USBC, the Wilburs, and their respective legal teams. There are many many moving parts, this is part of why the process has gotten the rumor mill turning so hard. There are lots of people that think they know what is going on, unfortunately they are mistaken.

I don't know any of the details about the appeals between Motiv and USBC, but one thing I do know is that Motiv has handled this very poorly from a public relations standpoint.

"If guns kill people, do pencils misspell words?"

"If you don't stand for our flag, then don't expect me to give a damn about your feelings."

I challenge anyone criticizing how this has transpired to formulate a better plan on an hours notice.

So you're saying Chad Murphy is a liar?

"USBC first contacted Motiv on February 26 and notified them about the specification issue. This was more than two weeks before the revocation decision was announced. Statements suggesting that USBC had not communicated with Motiv, or that its decision was intended to blindside them without warning, simply are not true."

Then perhaps the Motiv brain-trust should have taken more than an hour to formulate their plan.

I'm curious as to your specific issues with the handling of the situation. It took much more than an hour to sort the exchange program.

If it is on the internet, it must be true.

With how customer driven MOTIV is, if there was a significant issue like this brought to their attention, to imply they would have idly passed it off is ludicrous.

There is far too much he said/she said in this situation, and that is the fuel for the rumor mill. Speculation as to how everything went down is nothing more than an exercise in imagination.

The topic has been discussed at length. I invite you to look at it objectively from ALL sides(USBC, MOTIV, Consumer).

I own three of the affected products, therefore I am a customer. You remember what a customer is, right?

I chose a Revolt Havoc for one of the three balls and already have it. I opted for the LE replacements for the other two as more of a same strength and shot shape ball.

I'm not trying to be pissy about this, but you are the one who made the statement of "I challenge anyone criticizing how this has transpired to formulate a better plan on an hours notice."

The exchange program was offered to allow anyone that wanted immediate resolution to receive such. Taking a ball of lesser value was your choice, as was waiting on the LE. Here Jackals sold for 229.95, Havoc 214.95. A ball devalues FAR more than $15 the second you drill a hole in it.

I'm still curious what system you would have engineered to handle the situation better? This is not an argument, genuinely curious.

Did I complain about taking a ball of a lessor price? No, I just made that statement and I'm happy with the choice. And yes, I did choose to wait on the LE.

Justin, I appreciate your ball reviews and dedication to Motiv. I mostly use Motiv myself and I don't even get them for free.

What would I have done differently? Good question and I don't have the full story so there is no way I would suggest a reasonable solution. I would have probably hired outside help, like a public relations firm to get expert advise. Perhaps Motiv did this, but from my point of view, they seem to be "winging it" and hoping for the best.

But here is the real problem for Motiv, they have hundreds of league bowlers(if not thousands) who were left without their ball to end the league season. Those same bowlers are now heading into the fall league season still without a similar ball. Are they going to accept that, or are they going to get the latest hook monster from a different company? I know a lot of bowlers and I can tell you what I have seen and that is a lot of Alpha Crux's, Lock's, Paradox's, Nirvina's and Guru's being sold to previous owners of the Jackal.

The new Trident could have filled that gap, but Motiv is still trying to win a pissing contest with USBC.

Personally, I will still throw Motiv as I don't use the heavy oil stuff that often anyway. But it would be nice to have a high end asymmetric in my bag for tournaments when needed.

The Trident does fill that gap. It is important to get word out before the season starts that it is there.

It's not even on the Motiv website yet, no one would even know what the Trident is because it doesn't exist yet on the web page.
