New Ripcord Launch and Carbide Tank Release date 11/23/22
« on: October 19, 2022, 12:16:35 PM »
New releases from Motiv coming November 23 (day before Thanksgiving).

Ripcord Launch is supposedly a strong pearl - materials say its an angular skid-flip ball.

Carbide Tank is a "Tour Edition" with the strongest MCP cover used yet, and says new technology includes resistance to lane shine.

The Ripcord Launch has a different core in it than previous releases with the Ripcord name. A modified Torx core to be specific, which was in the first three Forza balls and the Covert tank. The numbers aren't all that different though. For 15 lbs. in particular they were 2.50 / .051 and are now 2.51 / .048.

So basically... the Forza Launch?

Got mine in this week, i'll drill and throw them some this weekend. The Tank is being described to us a stronger Blitz, with better lane shine resistance, because that has been a real issue with some of the early MCP balls, and while is better on the Blue Tank, it's quite at reactive durability yet.

The Launch is interesting to me, I've been one that enjoyed the Velocity (and OG Ripcord) quite a bit, so going to a new core and cover this time around, i'll have to see how it rolls. Will toss it compared to my velocity and report back.

Also wide open for questions if anyone wants to see or hear about some comparisons, I don't have a ton of the legacy catalog as I went through a fit change this summer and donated a lot of my old stuff to the local youth program, but I've got the current line and some older ones.

I loved the Forza, so looking forward to the new Ripcord. Probably have it in a few days.

Not going to bother with the Carbide. My game isn't well suited to urethane.

Early reports on the two new ones.

Launch is not as strong as the Sky Raptor, but a little stronger than the Velocity. It's pretty quick downlane and a ball when you get a friction spot to throw at you can keep chasing in with. Definitely one of the faster balls downlane in the Motiv line right now. I had a little trouble in league with it this week because of how fast it was downlane, it really boomed off the dry, and probably wasn't my best league option on the fresh.

The Carbide is strong, really strong. I always disregard the first shot or two with a fresh MCP ball (like urethane it seems first shot on fresh surface is just silly and not representative of what they do). Where I could strike with my Blue tank I was 6 boards farther in with my feet with the Carbide, and that's been consistent at a couple houses, i'm a bit surprised at how early and strong it is. I'm going to leave mine dull and see how long it takes to lane shine and experiment with it a bit, so far i'm not exactly sure where it slots in my bag, it's so early and strong it's not ideal for me (lower speed, maybe slightly rev dominant) on house patterns, and I haven't bowled on sport with it yet (will sunday).

If anyone has comparisons they'd like to see on video let me know.
