Say the question was posed to you that someone is looking to try Motiv for next season. They are looking to buy 2 balls not counting a plastic spare ball. Versatility for league play and maybe 1-2 tournaments with sport patterns in the 38-43ft medium vol range.
Which two would you suggest that give the best example of what Motiv is all about?
For sake of argument, let's give them stats of 16mph, 400rpm, medium tilt & axis rotation.
-
Villain and Venom Shock Pearl.
-
the two above balls mentiond are a great one two punch.
-
If you'd only bowl 1-2 tournaments I wouldn't even worry about that and just focus on your league conditions.
On the lighter side: Venom Shock Pearl or Tag Cannon. If you see desert then the Freestyle.
Medium: Venom Shock, Lethal Paranoia, Forza SS, or the Villain if you like asymms
-
Two Venom Shocks(neither one being the VS Pearl). Different drillings and different surface.
If you can only have two, then make the most of the best ball available from Motiv.
At 1000 surface, the Shock can handle oil just fine. At 4000, it can handle light oil.
Of course, if you run into a desert, then you will have to use your spare as the Shock isn't going to handle a true burnt condition no matter the surface and/or drilling.
With the Venom Cobra no longer available, the rest of their current line up is pretty condition specific. But if you can find a Cobra, then go with a Shock and a Cobra.

Are you not a fan of the VSP Milo?

Not so much. I had high hopes for it as a replacement for the Cobra, but it hasn't worked out that way. A little surface and it's stronger then the Shock, polished and it skids too far.
It kind of reminds me of the Toxin and Panic, all or nothing.

I slapped a p4 in my VSP and it came to life. Plus 120 for 2 last week. But it's a small sample size. I would say Shock or Villain and VSP as my 2 current releases.

That's probably what I need to do. Just too dang lazy. ;D

If you don't include a Shock in this, then you might be drain bramaged.

I was too. Had the ball since pre release. Just slapped a hole in it last week. But I am.glad I did. 3 different people asked if I plugged or drilled a new one.

Venom shock and why not pick up a new primal rage? If u need weaker the tag cannon is getting some hype lately.

I'm curious about how the Primal Rage remake will roll in comparison to the original since it looks like a coverstock change.
