Polished Villian?
« on: April 23, 2018, 09:32:00 PM »
Has anybody tried 1k and polish on their Villian? I have it drilled pin down and just can't figure the ball out. Leave way too many corner pins with this ball the way it is. Love my Rising but need a ball below it and above my Venom Shock. I was hoping the Villian would fit that spot but so far no such luck. Thinking about selling my Villian if the polish doesn't work and picking up a Ghost. Another option is to plug the Villian and drill it identical to my Rising. Looking to see if anybody has had success with polish on their Villian.  Thanks

Option 1: Polish Villian, spend a practice session changing surfaces. If you're leaving corners, making it go longer is not the answer unless you want to move closer to the friction.

Option 2: Redrill Villian, If the Shock and Rising are that good for you and they don't corner pin as much, why drill the Villian any different if it was to fit between 2 balls drilled identical to each other?

Option 3: Drill a Fresh Villian, Ive heard really good things about this ball and I understand its not for everyone. A fresh one where the PSA hasn't been moved by a previous drilling could be a better option to fit.

Option 4: Drill a Ghost, not too familiar with Motiv's line and how everthing fits but I'm hoping that its weaker than your Rising because the only pitfall is you drill it and it mirrors what you already have in the Rising.

Overall I just think you had a bad layout choice. Drilling the ball pin down lowers the diff and keeps your angles in front of you for the most part. Trying to move inward with a slower responding layout can lead to a lot of corners which is when you go to your pin up(stronger pin) layouts. You may just be experiencing too much transition to fast to effectively use the Villian as is.

Thanks James      I practiced last night for 3 hours on the 2016 USBC Team pattern. The Villian actually rolls a ton better on a sport pattern than a house pattern. I was able to square up and keep ball in front of me and my carry was great.I took surface down to 1000 for the sport pattern. I think I am going to keep ball at 1k and just use it for tournaments and the tougher stuff. It was a nice compliment to my pin up Rising at 2K. Some balls are better for sport than house and it looks like my Villian is one of them. Thanks for your input.

I definitely think the Villain fits better kn sport given the layout. I do think a Ghost with the same layout as the Rising or perhaps a bit weaker of a layout and then tune the cover will fill your needs.

The Ghost would be the next ball down.
