Post by: stormed1 on September 06, 2016, 03:21:00 PM

Don't have any info yet but it was on a list of upcoming releases in my distributer's weekly newsletter

Sounds like a good "piece" for Richard Gere or Edward Norton.

Medium Heavy Moderate?

Medium Heavy Moderate?

Will be interesting to see where they go with it. Could be a direct replacement for the Primal Rage, a direct Replacement for the Primal Rage Remix, or go in the middle slot of the medium-heavy category on their ball chart. My bet is the latter since they have two holes in that column currently but who knows. I like the name though.

It has my interest. My thinking is like CoorZero on where it'll fit.

I would bet on it being a darker color like a blood red, navy blue, black/brown and pop the logos with a brighter color (yellow, orange, green)

Saw a pic on facebook. It's red and blue/purple with white logos. Looks like an all pearl, maybe the replacement for the redball. Didn't see any other details.

This isn't even USBC approved yet, so there's not going to be any official announcement until then.

That sounds like a redball replacement. Once I win some money out of brackets and upcoming tournaments I'd definitely consider getting one

Yep. With the medium-heavy designation and "the most aggressive and most angular pearl cover ever used in the Primalâ„¢ line" description I can't see where else it would fit on their chart. The Rage had a great run and I fully expect Motiv to deliver on the new version being even better.

You would think but you know how many times storm has unsuccessfully tried to replace the hy-road. Sometimes the next isn't always the better.

Storm has never tried to replace the HyRoad. Marvel Pearl? That's a different story.

I thought the CrossRoad was an attempt to "update" the Hy-Road.

they have tried to improve upon, yes. But they have never tried to "replace" it. In order to replace the HyRoad, they have to stop making it ;)

They may have though. When the Victory Road came out, then the Cross Road, both times the Hy-Road became very tough to find at the distributors(At least my pro shop was saying that it wasn't available from their distributor).

I got the impression that Storm wanted to replace the Hy-Road, but the demand was too high.

That's true, but the Hy-Road may be one of the best balls of all time. I don't think the Primal Rage quite reached those heights. Motiv has had a really nice track record recently with new coverstocks too and that's why I think the Primal Fear will live up to the bill of replacing and improving the Primal Rage.

Obviously we won't know anything until it's out there on the lanes, but if I needed a ball like that (I don't at the moment) I wouldn't hesitate to get one at launch without seeing it first.

I don't understand why they would replace the #redball. Would they consider it a mid heavy moderate due to surface prep? I mean, it propelled Motiv into the spotlight.

Probably not. In the BowlersDeals link they have it listed at 5000 Grit LSP, same as the Primal Rage. And that is currently in the angular column of the medium-heavy row on Motiv's ball chart. From what I've seen they don't tend to keep more than one type (reaction) of ball on the ball chart active so it seems like the Primal Rage is on it's way out.

That ball did help get Motiv's name on the map, but maybe it's not selling well now. I have no idea if that's the case but it makes sense to move on if it isn't. Especially if you can replace it with a ball that's even more angular and handles more oil like they're saying.

Based upon cover and core, cleaner and more angular. I wouldn't be surprised if it were stronger overall as well.

I'm actually wondering how the Primal Fear will react compared to the Primal Rage Remix. Should be more angular for sure, but with the stronger coverstock it might be able to handle the same amount of oil with a somewhat similar shape. Especially if you bring them both to the same surface.

I have the Primal Rage great ball I also have the Remix which I dont like and i have changed the surface and still not quite right. but I will get the FEAR hoping it will match the success I had with the original, and if it handles more oil all the better!

This will be something I punch up after some other balls and I get a feel for the Motiv line. High RG high diff balls are tricky for me. Usually, I have to go with something like a 50*5*65 to not have the ball go 45 feet then dead left.

KEY SELLING POINTS
 Continuing with the intimidating
performance standards set by the
Primal Rage and Primal Rage Remix, the Primal Fear is an angular monster built for mediumheavy
oil patterns.
 The proven Impulseâ„¢ V2 core at the center of the Primal Fear remains one of the most
advanced in the industry. The dynamic dual-density design provides a strong skid-flip reaction
and backend propulsion that is incredibly impressive.
 Integrating this core technology with new Voracityâ„¢ Pearl Reactive cover stock, the Primal Fear
delivers more power and continuation than ever before. Voracityâ„¢ is the most aggressive and
most angular pearl cover ever used in the Primalâ„¢ line. The Primal Fear is tuned with a 5000
Grit LSP finish.
 Fans of the Primal Rage will appreciate the ability of the Primal Fear to combat higher viscosity
oils and higher volume patterns. Bowlers who have thrown the Remix edition will find that the
Primal Fear is cleaner down the lane with improved continuation.

You act like it's never going to happen. They haven't missed their promised date yet, so I ask: Who peed in your corn flakes?

Not Corn Flakes, Raisin Bran.

It's hard to miss a date that they have never gave. "Sometime in the fall" or "Around September" or whatever they said is BS.

And I don't give a squat if they miss me. It's the way I take a stand. Kinda like I refuse to watch anything with Sean Penn.  ;D ;D
