Primal TV4 Review
« on: January 04, 2011, 09:40:11 AM »

Happy New Year to everyone!
Primal is a ball that Motiv fans will go nuts for. This ball features the Thrust core with a new cover called Vicious. The Vicious cover allows the ball to get through the heads smoothly, picking up mid-lane before making a final charge to the pocket. Motiv did a great job of matching the core and cover along with another exciting color combination. I found that the Vicious cover takes surface adjustments well which will allow it to match all bowling styles. Motiv has many hard hitting balls, but this may be the hardest hitting one yet. The Primal will be the benchmark ball for most bowlers because it reads the oil line better than any ball I have thrown in a long time. I threw the Primal against the TZ3, Cruel, and the TR2; it is a perfect ball down from the Cruel and TR2 yet a much stronger ball than the TZ3. If you are looking for a new ball for 2011, grow some claws and pick up a Primal. Look for more information to come from Justin.

So is this a hybrid coverstock or more toward the pearl side?

It's all pearl. Haven't found any RG or Diff. specs yet on it but I'm sure more info will be available very soon.

Thrust core - 2.54 RG, .052 differential. Same core as the TR2, just wrapped in a new pearl coverstock.

After throwing the NEW Primal I also believe it will be a great benchmark piece to start off with in lge or tournaments. The Thrust core gets the ball to read the midlane but with the new cover you get more continuation down lane. If the TR2 or Cruel is reading too soon the Primal will make an excellent choice. I threw it up the oil line on our house shot and got a nice reaction but I was really impressed when I hit the cover  with 2000 abralon and then I was able to bump inside the heavy oil slightly and get away from the real dry boards so I would not get the over-under look. When this ball is a little more than what is required the QZ balls will be a step down in the Motiv progression.  Like all Motiv balls this one also has the awesome Motiv shelf appeal ,very cool color scheme on this one. All Motiv fans should give this ball consideration when making that next purchase. When needing a ball for medium to dry conditions do not forget my personal fav in the line, the QZ series. They are real sleepers from the guys in Mich. and react like higher priced equipment. Thanks for reading my review.                                                   Mike Mineman      Motiv Test Staff
