Let's get Primal ** Now with Video!**
« on: January 12, 2011, 01:46:51 AM »

Here is the set of Primals to be used in the video:

Layouts:

45x30@5 3/8" No Hole

60x40@2 7/8" P2 Hole

65x70@5 1/4" No Hole

65x65@4 3/8" P2.5 Hole

45x45@5" P1 Hole

And yes there are 5, if you are unsure what this ball can do after watching this video, then I have failed.

I don;t know what it is, but I am just not awe-stricken by this ball.

I absolutely love my Cruel, I really looked forward to this ball complementing my Cruel, but something just didn't seem right looking at these layouts.

Call me crazy, but I don't know.

I can't pass on this ball though.

What doesn't seem right to you?  It is ok, not every release will blow your doors off.

The big thing with this ball and video is the versatility.  With a length pattern with shine and I can play the dirt, a somewhat aggressive pattern and 1k and I can swing the lane.

There is more juice in this ball than I show, but part of that is my historic struggles with the Thrust core and too strong of a layout.  I'm using a 4 3/8" pin, with a 65 degree VAL angle as my strongest layout.  You could use a 50x45@4" if you have a bit less hand and watch it fly off the spot.

The real impressive thing about this ball that I tried to convey in the video, is that on the same lane condition I can move 5 boards left with each ball and enter the pocket at approximately the same angle with only changes in drill pattern and surface.

That is an extremely rare quality in a bowling ball these days to be so versatile.

Oh don't get me wrong. This ball does seem very versatile. I am not one for equipment to fly off the spot.

I for one will probably buy it solely because I was waiting for it to be released.

I just don;t know what it is that doesn't appeal to me.

Maybe once I get the ball in my hands I will feel different

looks like it rolls alot like a QZ. seems to be the way Motiv is releasing stuff, most are very close in reactions to other offerings and re-hash's. Don't get me wrong, love my QZ2.

Tell me, where would this ball fit in between the cruel,gt1,Qz1? seems like a tight fit.

Kind of disappointed.....  I already have that ball. It's called a QZ1.

Try drilling one 50x40@4" with 1k Abralon and tell me it is the same as your QZ1.

really? same as your qz? im about 99.9992% sure the qz line doesnt have the thrust core with the vicious coverstock. not gonna lie if motiv can make the exact same reaction using 2 different cores and 2 different coverstocks, well done!

Again..where would this ball fit in the motiv line up?

The cores are not the same but the numbers look close to a QZ and as for covers they are adjustable.

The TV4 sits just below but darn near close to the Cruel for overall strength.  Due to its strong backend it can in some instances outhook the C51, as the C51 reads the midlane very strongly.  The V cover is stronger than the R formula, so it sits between the TR2 and C51.

Thrust block in the TV4:  2.54/.052
Quadfire block in the QZ series:  2.55/.043

That is hardly what I would call "the same numbers".

I can see this is going to turn into a "I can make a ball do this thread..." It is not about "making" a ball do something, it is about having the ball do what it is designed to do......the TV4 is something we have not seen from MOTIV before. Nice video Justin, very informative.

I had thought it was said on the first page, it seems it wasn't.  Just trying to highlight the difference between the QZ and TV4, as it seems some have erroneously begun to compare them.  The TV4 is a significantly stronger ball in both core and cover.
