Questions about Sigma

Just got back into bowling this year.  Currently use a #14 Tribal, drilled CG center and pin by ring finger.

I've been looking at the Sigma sting, but, in all honesty, can't really see that much difference between it and the Tribal.

I bowl on new lanes, 42 ft pattern, THS.  Usually cross the arrows around 12 board out to 5.

Was wondering if I put the same drill on the Sting if I could play more in the middle, say 15-8.

Sorry I don't know all the fancy dual layout numbers, my PAP is 5 1/4 by 1/2 up.

Any other suggestions is appreciated.

I have not thrown the Sting yet.  But if we look at the two balls, they both have the same cover.  The Sigma core is somewhat earlier and a bit stronger than the new Halogen core. 

I could see the Sting as the first ball out on a THS and then moving to the Tribal as the shot broke down.  Does this mean playing more inside?  I don't know, but I would think the Sting is pretty strong compared to the Tribal.  But if you are rev dominant and the backends are pretty dry on your shot, I could see the Tribal appearing stronger.

The Sigma Hybrid was an odd offering from Motiv.  I wouldn't look at it as a hybrid in the sense that it would fit between a Sigma solid and Sigma pearl.  The Sigma Hybrid is much earlier than the original and would definitely be earlier than the Sting.  So the order would be Sigma Hybrid, Sigma Tour, Sigma Sting (This is for shape only.  The original would be the weaker of the three).

Another side note to add, the Tribal has a higher gloss finish than the Sting (according to the website its 2000+Polish vs 1500+Polish) I believe though it is a little more extreme than that, just food for thought. The core in the Tribal will get it to float down the lane compared to the Sting, my Sting starts pretty quick and isn't drilled to roll early.

As mentioned above the Sting is a few boards stronger than the Tribal for me. On our THS its about a 4 and 2 stronger. The Sting reads the lane sooner and just keeps going. The Tribal is very clean through the fronts. My Sting drilled with the pin in the ring finger is a little earlier than the Rage but not by much.

The Hybrid is a slower response cover which makes it more of a controlled arc to the pins. The Sting in OOB gives about the same in length but a much more aggressive move off the friction.

All depends on what you need.

Drilled the same the sting would definitely be stronger. I have both and usually start the night with the sting, and when I start having to get too deep to carry corners I go to the tribal. On the fresh ths, the sting is an easy 5 and 2-3 more ball. Great one-two punch. If you like the tribal you will love the sting. A little more predictable combined with the recovery on those misses outside you see with the Tribal.

i have both and in my experience is the tribal is longer and much more angular, my sting is a easy 5 stronger and much stronger roll with alot of continuation. one plus to both is able to play up the boards or multiple angles with minor hand adjustments have yet to mess with the covers

I have both in my bag drillled with same Layout:
Tribal is much more longer and angular while Sigma sting is with more roll and continuation through Pins.
Even both balls use the Fusion pearl cover the difference is huge between the balls.

I bought the Sting this week, it sounds like the perfect balance I'm looking for to add to my aresenal.

I tested it out this week and was having a bit of a control issue.  Every other ball I throw has polish on it but I thought I'd change the surface on the Sting by adding polish.  Has anyone polished the Sting?  Reaction still OK?

Everything I've seen, including the ball, says it comes with a high gloss polish.
Isn't yours already polished?

Factory Finish: 1500 Grit Polished

It's so dull I thought it was just at 1500.  Maybe I'll just try the polish I'm used to I guess..
