# RED BALL
« on: June 21, 2015, 05:33:33 PM »
Hey Folks,
Is anyone still throwing the # RED BALL? I am thinking about getting that or the original Revolt (solid). Also, please give me your thoughts on theses two balls.

And btw, when does Motiv ever come down in their prices???
Now throwing pretty much all flavors...

The damage on the primal rage would most likely be from the ball cushion nails broken board etc.. Scratching the ball. The ball cover does not scratch it self lol. The venom panic being stuck could also be ball return malfunction for example on gsx pinsetters t band frames break and the ball could sit on a dipp. It could also be that panic been sanded to a pulp haha.

I understand the ball doesn't scratch itself, it just seems more susceptible to damage than other balls.

I have been rolling all Motiv for the past 18 months and my equipment has not suffered any kind of damage... so far.  I find that Motiv coverstocks are extremely durable and I agree with others that it is not soft coverstocks susceptible to damage.  The ball damage discussed here has got to be the condition of the lanes or the pair of lanes you bowled on or the channel or from the ball returns.  I knock on wood because I have had many balls damaged at my regular bowling center and some have been on brand new equipment.  Cuts, scrapes and chips are going to happen to any ball at some point.  That said, I love my Red Ball; it was my first Motiv piece and still is my first ball out of the bag.  Almost every Motiv ball in my arsenal has a valid place in my bag for league and tournament play.  I'm thinking of adding a Venom Shock or picking up another Red Ball for when I retire my current one.  Pricewise, Motiv is competitively and fairly comparable to the other big boys and a worthwhile investment for me.

Again, absolutely not true about Motiv balls. I have owned about every brand and have been using Motiv since the GT-1 came out and they DO NOT track up easier than other balls. My Rage has needed very little up keep and my GT-1, Panic and Tribal are the same. Lanes cause marks on the ball not coverstock weaknesses. If this is your first Motiv ball and you've used some other companies stuff over the years, I would be more inclined to think you're loyalty to that other company is causing you to nitpick the Rage. I wouldn't trade my Rage for any other ball out there currently and I'm quite happy knowing it hasn't suffered any ball death or needs constant upkeep. You should concentrate more on how the Rage is performing and less on putting it under a microscope looking for scratches. Not being harsh, just being honest!

I am definitely not brand loyal.  My current arsenal consists of the Primal Rage, plus balls from Track, Columbia, DV8, Radical, and Elite.  Aside from Storm and 900Global stuff which simply have never worked well for me, I don't care who makes the ball...only that it performs for me.  I have no qualms with the performance of the Primal and plan to use it as my go-to ball.  Hopefully it lasts a few seasons!

I agree with TDC57!! The issues with marks on the ball is the fault of the centers and not the fault of the ball manufacturers.

I am actually thinking about getting one of these (#Red Ball) to go under my Vengeance and above my Shock.
