First night of season and Forza ruled!
« on: September 08, 2015, 10:24:32 PM »
Just finished opening night of season and my Forza tore it up.  I have only been bowling for about 18 months and finished last season at 158 avg.  Got my Forza at 15lb in March and loved it from start I just wasn't quite where I needed to be to get it to shine.  Tonight after a summer of work at it I came right out of the chute with 258,169,194- 621 for my first sanctioned 600.  Ever since I started out with Motiv balls my average and confidence when I unzip my bag has done nothing but go up.  Switching to 14lb this season and my Redline will be here and drilled by weekend.  I can't wait to see how that beast works for me.

You'll like the Redline, mine is a beast!  I only have it and the Jackal from Motiv but will be adding more eventually.  I really liked the Remix and Vengence when I threw them at a demo day.

I think I will love it.  Will take adjustment in going down a lb in weight but I know that will benefit me in long run.  After I get used to the lighter ball and how it behaves I am going to get a Vengance for heavier patterns and Tag for the burn up in later games.  My driller has a layout in mind and I trust him so I can't wait for it to be ready. I work at the house so I know probably Friday he will come walking up to the counter and tell me my ball is in but he's really busy.  Half hour later he will come up and ask me what color grips and slug.  Half hour after that he will come up and turn on a pinsetter give me the ball and tell me to try it and tell me I better throw it well. Always the same   lol.

Sounds like you have a great/fun relationship with your driller.

Congrats on your first 600 series! I'm sitting on top of a Forza I'm excited to drill. Wanted one since I saw Ronnie Russell throw one on TV.

I normally throw my Sigma Sting, but decided to give the Forza a shot after a couple of so-so looks in practice with the Sting. Took me most of game one to figure out, slower ball speed and get the ball into a good roll to read the lane and Viola! 185, (punched out the 10th), 224 (had 1st six, but threw split in 8th and then washout in 10th), 225 (had 1st five and missed a damn 6 pin when thumb stuck in 10th)...so 635, but at least I am now comfortable with house shot and Forza (as it had been mostly for sport shot conditions).

Thanks for the congrats and yes my driller is very much a character.  Very smart aleck 28-30 something dude.  He is good at it tho and I don't even tell him what I want just color of grips.  He is excited now that I am dropping a pound to really build me an arsenal.  Like I think I said going Tag and maybe shock to start.  The driller is also the lane man at our house and he basically is of the opinion that anything more than a medium ball is just wasting money at our place.  We seem to have heavier patterns than other local houses and we are the only wood lane house in the area so ball action is pretty good.  I can't wait to get on with the new ball(s) and see where I go.
Any advice on how to work into switching to the 14# balls to use in league??

The Forza is an awesome ball, have loved it since I drilled it up. Although sadly I don't use it as much as I used to. Mainly because I drilled up a Shock which is just amazing. This summer the Forza was just too much for anything I bowled, so it may make a return soon.

I also have the Tag which I just got drilled up last week. For me it is stronger than expected but still versatile. You won't be disappointed with either the Shock or Tag if you like the Forza. My favorite part of all 3 balls are that they are all smooth and there isn't any of the jumpiness that you see in other balls off the spot.
