Title: The Jackal Ghost - This ball is scary good!
Post by: MotivSteve300 on January 04, 2017, 06:16:57 PM
The Jackal Ghost is here and I’m very excited to talk about this ball’s performance.  It delivers more total hook potential than any previous Jackal with no loss of continuation.  The Ghost is an asymmetric low RG ball which features the Predator V2 core with the Coercion HFS (High Friction Solid) cover stock.  All this allows the Ghost to easily rev up and create massive track flare potential.  The Ghost will be your choice to combat higher volume and longer patterns without sacrificing continuation.  Obviously, low rev bowlers and speed dominate players will also benefit from throwing the Ghost, this ball is scary good!

What is the difference between this ball and the Jackal LE?  By just the numbers they look very close.  If I have the LE, why do I need the Ghost?

I would suggest you view the video in this other thread for your answer.

If I may go off an a tangent here, this got me wondering.  "Scary good" is an obvious allusion to the "ghost" name.  Do the manufacturers send out these catch phrases to the staffers to include in their required reviews as part of the overall marketing campaign?  Not that it has happened on this one yet, but I've often noticed staffer reviews for multiple companies all use the same phrase in their "headline/subject".  They are probably obligated to incorporate the marketing slogans yes?

Would like to hear if that's true (essentially given a template for every new ball's review).  The irony being, of course, that it drives the ultra geeks such as ourselves crazy.

The staffers will tell you that they write their reviews in their own words, but just read them and you will see that they all use the same verbiage. Thats why in my opinion those staffer reviews are a joke .A complete waste of typing

I feel the same way and they all do word reviews exactly the same; much less mostly bowling on a THS.  :-\

I know some staffers and they are really nice people. However, they are also never going to give a ball from the company they are on staff for a bad review. At least not publicly. They would get fired real quick.

Of course, the same can be said of Bowlers Journal or BTM. I've never read a review in either of those magazines that said this ball is a waste your money. They don't want to cost themselves ad revenue.

As expensive as it is, the best way to know if a ball is any good is to buy it, drill it and throw it yourselves. And I will say, my Primal Fear has been a turd. I'm getting it plugged and redrilled another way to see if it comes to life.

You should check the Gold Rhino Pro review from BTM.  Not good.  I'm kind of convinced it was the reason Brunswick (and DV8 and Radical) stopped sending them balls to review for a while except for the HP releases.

Phrases such as: "On the oil patterns and lanes we use to test products, this ball was not the best match for our testers."  The highest score across all patterns and all styles was a 7.

Rare...but it happens.

Jeff Richgels has poopooed on some Storm stuff before.  Pretty honest guy in his ball reviews.

Yea, Richgels doesn't pull any punches when he dislikes a ball. The first one that comes to mind is the Storm IQ Tour. It's politically correct for most bowlers to drool over the Tour as the ultimate benchmark piece. Richgels hated it and wasn't afraid to say why. It was refreshing.

I couldn't agree more, even though i loved the IQ tour. His honesty is refreshing

Too bad Jeff Richgels isn't as honest when it comes to his love of the USBC and the PBA. If he was, I might buy his blog. He put on the biggest pair of rose-colored-glasses when writing about them. Not to mention he wants blue oil everywhere, all the time (even leagues).

It's the reason why we do our reviews independently.
We'll be reviewing the Jackal Ghost soon enough.

Definitely like your reviews as well.  The written part particularly.  Plus they are often filmed at houses I know....and sometimes with people I know.

So it's not possible that he actually does love the USBC and PBA? From the butt-kissing he and his team receives when they show up at the Open, I have little doubt he does love them.

The blue oil is a joke. These guys are professional they don't need blue oil to play the pattern.I inderstand its for tv to show people the pattern.First time or two it was ok.But for every show come on.The PBA has become a joke to me.Telling guys what the pattern is for tournaments. They never did before thats what makes players great if you ask me.Being able to figure the pattern out for yourself. Its becoming like league you know its going to be some kind of walled up crap anywhere from 15 to 5.Ok my rants over.LOL

I actually like the blue oil idea to help people understand what's happening.  It probably fools the pros sometimes as they read the breakdown more from the blue color than what's actually happened.  Would be interesting to see it on your walled up THS, dark blue 10-10, nothing outside.  Maybe then people can see how ridiculous those shots are...  What's wrong with a nicely tapered shot 4:1 and just make people execute more without completely crushing their will...although most would probably stop bowling if they saw even 4:1 every night?  OK, way off topic...
