Title: When the redemption starts for Jackals.....
Post by: WOWZERS on March 17, 2016, 01:26:46 PM
I wonder what Motiv will do in the event identical Serial Numbers are entered for a redemption?

I have seen auctions on ebay for Jackals and Carnages and there is a pic of either the ball, the box, or both, and the Serial # is clear enough ANYONE can see the #.

Just because one is entered first does not mean they are the true owner.

Just because someone has a bill of sale/proof of purchase, that person might not be the true owner of the ball. What if I would have purchased a NIB Jackal or Carnage from any online shop, but before drilling decided I didn't want the ball and sold it on ebay or to anyone? Or, what if I drilled it but have since sold it to someone else? I would think the current owner should be the one to receive the redemption, not the initial owner.

I can envision some not nice natured folks try to round up some Serial #s and try to enter them on the site especially if no proof of purchase is required to be entered. Then it becomes a game of who has the ball for Motiv.

Imagine someone entering Serial #s from balls they used to own on the first day the redemption whatever opens. I am sure bowlers will have a specific window to enter the request for a new ball. Who is not to say that the true owner waits until near the end of the period to enter the info, but if Motiv had already started shipping replacements, they cannot honor 2 replacements for one ball.

EESH. This is a mess.

step 1 submit ball serial number

step 2 receive and print claim number

step 3 take pic of claim number next to ball showing serial number

step 4 submit to Motiv

step 5 receive new weapon

problem solved
you're welcome Motiv

step 6 list ball on eBay and sell to some idiot willing to overpay for it just because the ball is illegal.

Just thought I would finish it for you.  ;D

yea, with all the local casual (non-league) bowlers here, I'm thinking selling off my Carnage will be a snap

That would easily cover the cost to drill the new ball, wouldn't you say?   8)

my PSO said he will drill my replacement ball no charge and even eat the cost of the finger inserts and switch grip sleeve.

I've talked to a few others and they've all said their PSOs are doing the same.

Looks like a good PSO isn't going to take advantage of their customer's misfortunes

I'm going to guess that Motiv is going to want the actual ball shipped back to them before they give you a new one.

I would be stunned if Motiv wanted the Jackals back. All of those shipping fees added up would be a ton.

My ball driller said he may be required to drill out or X out the serial number after doing a trade-in once the process starts.

I have had 2 or 3 warranty issues with balls over the years were the ball was replaced.  every time they said keep the ball that had issues.

It was once each with Storm, Brunswick and Columbia (before Ebonite merge).  I would think they wouldn't want the balls back.  not like they can recycle them

I am wondering when we will know how long it will take to fill the same spot on the chart that the Jackal is right now and if we will be able to get this ball (another asymmetric?) as a replacement...looking for a little earlier than the Vengeance, but not as early/rolly as the Havoc.  Anyone have any more info yet?

My assumption is you will be required to have the ball you are making a claim on registered directly with Motiv along with a matching claim. When registering ball on the Motiv website you'll get an error if the ball has been registered already so no duplicates with that system. Also, warranties usually only cover the original purchaser so if you bought the ball used and think you are entitled to a brand new ball of choice you may be in for a terrible surprise (not sure if that is how they will handle it but directly from Motiv they did state warranty only covers original purchaser).

Finally, also confirmed with Motiv no ball will be shipped back to them. They may require you to drill a hole through the USBC stamp in order to conplete the warranty but that is not 100% confirmed yet.

A few years ago, I had a warranty claim for a 900 Global Black Eagle which cracked. Sent pictures with the serial # to 900 Global and they agreed to send me a new ball, but they made me incur an expense by having to ship them the cracked Eagle before they would ship the replacement. Hope Motiv does not do this.

As I stated in my previous post, unless Motiv customer service is lying which I highly doubt, they are not requiring any ball be sent in!

Missed that in your post.  Great news, Thanks.

I have had a warranty issue with the original Sniper from cracking around the logo.  Motiv wanted me to drill out the serial number and not send it in.

I really doubt they would require the ball to be sent in unless USBC tries to eliminate as many of the balls in bowlers hands as possible.  Might prevent some future issues.

Do you think they will make a .058 jackal: redemption or go all new?

I feel like it would be best to go all new core?

What do you think

I feel they will have to go a different direction name-wise.  But don't be surprised if the new name has something to do with this fiasco.

Redemption doesn't quite lend its name to other releases.  Perhaps Phoenix (out of the ashes) type might work assuming the name is available after Track's use.

I have a feeling they're going to want to put out a new heavy oil asymmetrical as soon as possible. With that in mind tweaking the predator core would be much faster than developing a completely new one. Of course they could (and should) have had something else in development anyways which would make my point mute.

We could get a clue from the ball replacement form when it comes online and we see what the potential options are. If there's no future option to wait until the next heavy oil asymmetrical comes out I would assume that the predator core is retired.

I think they will continue with staying near 0.6 since on social media they keep bragging bout pushing limits or borders.

I guess their customer service missed the notice that they weren't doing anything yet and haven't determined what they will do exactly.
