Title: Which is cleaner? Fear or Lethal?
Post by: Impending Doom on November 08, 2017, 12:55:20 PM
I've currently run into an issue where I am seeing a lot more burn than I'm used to, and I have two options. Stand on top of it with something weak, or go around it. The surface isn't great, but where I live now doesn't have as much oil as I'm used to. I wanted to drill something symmetrical 50*4*20, and wanted to do it on a long and strong ball. Wouldn't do it on a United (rg is too low) and the Fear seems niche. When you want a Motiv ball that is clean and let's you go around the pattern, what do you use?

I had a Fear for a little while. It had a way of always giving easy length, even on wood surface with high friction. It also seemed like it would blow through the breakpoint more than it should as well. I had it somewhere around 70 x 5" x 25. This probably doesn't help you much honestly, but that was my experience with it. When it was an option, my Hy-Road Pearl was also quite viable and I was more comfortable with the HRP, so I usually went to it instead.

I haven't received the Lethal as yet, but the original Paranoia is my ball of choice when I need to move deep left. If the cover on the Lethal is as advertised, then it should be a very good option.

Personally, I find the Fear hit-and-miss. On some patterns/conditions, it's a world beater, but on most conditions I've tried, it's an expensive paper weight.

100% above. I use my paranoia on burn. Should have my lethal by weeks end. Will update that one as well

Don't forget the Tag Cannon. I think it's a very underrated ball and by no means "weak". I've been surprised by the amount of versaility i have with mine

The Tag Cannon is an excellent choice for someone looking for a clean ball with some predictability. I find myself going to it on dry lanes instead of my Carbon due to it not being as sensitive.

I think the tags are great, but I'm looking for more flare. The reaction I'm looking for is long, but lots of flare. I had a Threat that was stellar in the position I'm looking to slot. Too bad I don't have it anymore. :(

The Lethal Paranoia may have that type of motion, but the original Paranoia almost certainly does for most that I've seen. It's a tremendous ball. That's what I would go with if I was looking for something from Motiv in that slot.

... But wouldn't the Honey Badger fit here?

As good as the Honey Badger is, I think it doesn't quite fit the flaring portion as well as the Paranoia.

+1 on the tag cannon; I keep mine at 4000 to tame it down a little on the backend;   Lucky for me (although discontinued). I still heave my Primal Rage to open up the lanes, and it’s a few years old now, and still going strong as the day I purchased it.

I agree on the the fear, I would pass on that one if I were you doom.

True, now that I think about it.

Hmm, OG Paranoia. That may work.

A HB would work, but I'm kind of at an em passe with 900 Global. High end stuff is too flippy, the step down don't roll well for me or they look like crap to me, and that leaves me with the honey badger line, boosts and Ops ( Ops are great). So I feel like a Ghost would look great in my hands and have been thinking of trying some Motiv for a few years. May be time to.pull the trigger.

I would definitely recommend the Lethal Paranoia. As others said the Primal Fear while is also clean, is more of a shot specific ball. i've been using the Lethal on my last game of league for about 3 weeks now and it gets the job done. I can move right and I know it will never hook early and have tons of recovery downlane. You won't be disappointed.
