Friends,
Jerry Marrs and I are in the process of putting together a decent tour for the bowlers of the midwest. The events will take place twice per month, from February to October, and hosted in Illinois. We are looking at centers from the North Suburbs to Champaign. We already have a host of centers that are interested.
We are looking at a $80 entry fee with $1000 on top (based on 50 entries) with a 1-5 cash ratio on sport type patterns. It will be a 5 game qualifier and cut for match plays until we have a winner. We are also looking into a points system to keep everyone coming to the events. We are looking into a payout for the top so many in points and even a special tournament at the end for only the top so many in points. There will be a few specials, such as a Proprietors Cup Qualifier, Masters Qualifier, $2000 to win MSBS tournament, and more.
We would like to hear anyone's POSITIVE opinions on this. Is this something that you guys would bowl? What centers would you like to see host these?
With your help, we are hoping to have a schedule out by Christmas at the latest.
Thanks,
Tony Hubert

ILLINOIS SCRATCH TOUR
5 Games of Qualifying. Cut in half for head to head single game match play. Remaining four will be seeded in a step ladder finals based on qualifying score.
$80 Entry
Breakdown of Entry: $10 Lineage, $7 Point Fund, $3 Misc Expenses = $60 towards Prize Fund
The more bowlers we get at each event, the more spots we will pay out.
Based on 50 bowlers
$1000
$550
$425
$325
$200
$200
$150
$150
Point Fund as follows:
1 point will be rewarded per squad entry
5 points for squad high qualifier
2 points for each match play/game won
1 point for any honor score (11 in a row or better, 800)
Points will be awarded to all cash spots as follows:
First place 150 points, 2nd 130, 3rd 120, 4th 110, 5th – 8th 90, 9th – Round 1 cut will subtract 2 points per position.
Points based on 50 bowlers per event.
Once we have the sponsors finalized, I will provide a projeted Point Fund.
We are also charging a one time $5 membership fee. This membership will allow you to walk into any of the host centers on the tour, and get discounted open bowling, practice, on the upcoming patterns, and more to be determined. This is a way to retain everyones business and show loyalty to the centers. All of the money collected from the bowlers for the membership will be distributed thoughout the final points fund.

Sounds like a great idea and if I weren't about to lose my job in a few weeks I'd be a player in some of these tournaments. Are these going to be 1 day events or 2 day?
-
For the most part it will be a one day event, on Sundays. There will be a select few that will be a two day, such as the Proprietors Cup Qualifier. We will also run doubles and trios for that event.
We are running the tour in swings. The first three months will be in centers on the North side and Chicago. The middle three months will be the South burbs, Joliet, and Kankakee. The last three months will be Champaign, Bloomington, and Kankakee again. This will save everyone from driving all over the place every couple of weeks.

Sorry for not responding to this sooner, Tony. I must have missed the original posts. I seem to pop onto this site in sporadic intervals these days. In any case, you know I'm always looking for good events to bowl, particularly scratch tourneys on challenging patterns. As such, I would certainly try to get to as many of these as time, money, and family commitments allow. Keep me posted as to how this is coming, especially once you get firm tournament dates down.

Only $5 for membership? Sweet!
-
This sounds awesome, i'm right the middle of the centers you listed location wise so making these wouldn't be very difficult.

I am working on a membership card design to give to everyone. Once I get it finished, it will be available for purchase. It will have all the details of the membership and your benefits.

I could be a player in a couple of the far NE IL part of the tour. Basically any event in Lake or McHenry county provided these are 1 day events on Sunday.
