Official WI State USBC Tournament Thread
« on: January 26, 2015, 10:33:21 AM »
For members who are bowling in the WI State Tournament.
I've heard that the approaches at Classic Lanes are very slick.
Scores at the Team event, Super Bowl have been better in general.

We bowl on Jan. 31/Feb. 1 so I will update after that.

Thoughts?
You stop laughing right meow!

Off subject, but does anyone know if the lanes in Watertown, the sites of the State Seniors Tournament are synthetic or wood?

Regarding Watertown for the state seniors tournament.
Watertown Bowl 18 is wood, and Watertown Bowl North are synthetics, installed back in october.

Go to 11thframe.com
There is a blog from Riggs.
The original poster is Rory Holland.
A smart guy who used to be the PBA midwest laneman for a few years.
He pretty much nailed the conditions.

so we pull up to the minors event yesterday and I check my lanes before going to see the bracket lady. draw lanes 1-2
OK, i know they have some more friction on the lower end, so i put in less $ in brackets than normal

come to find out that they oiled the pair for 1st shift, did not use the pair for first shift, we show up for noon squad, they start oiling 3-4 all the way down, leave ours.
im not a lane pattern expert, but it would seem to me that a pattern sitting for 4-5 hours is different than the fresh oil pattern everyone else had.

On top of that, the power went out 3 times while we were there. not a great day
bowled my tail off for 600, carry was very bad

And i know how bad the pattern was after we went to the team event today where the lanes were supposed to be a little more hook
not the case compared to yesterday, seemed like a good 5 tighter today and a fair shot.
yesterday, not so much

This is my first state tournament. Out of curiosity,  does anyone happen to know what time they were out by on Saturday for the team games starting at 3pm? What about singles/doubles on Sunday? How long does that typically last?

Figure in the 3 hr. range for team and about 2:45 for singles and doubles.
