2016 USBC Ohio State Tourney
« on: April 28, 2016, 09:05:02 AM »
Has anyone had the opportunity to bowl the Ohio State Tourney yet?  I will be up there near Toledo this weekend.

Just checking to see if anyone has any reports or found success.

I bowled the tournament in February.  The surfaces are pretty beat up.  There is a lot of friction.  Everybody played in, so an out of bounds developed outside.

I noticed that both Interstate and Southwyck look like wood houses from what is available online.

We bowled in March. Both houses Wood. Lots of friction with a little flatter pattern down lane. As stated above, this moved most bowlers in but carry was worse the more angle you got. We had much better luck with straighter angles from inside and avoiding anything really skid\flip. best scores came from bowlers with less tilt that could playup 12-13 or small loops of those angles. polished crux (original version) pin down, Motiv paranoia w pin in the ring finger, and Storm Ride where my main balls. Hope this helps.... Brackets paid well with it being tough to put three solid games together.

Different strokes for different folks.

I spent the whole team set and half of doubles trying to use smoother balls with no real success. I scored much better once I gave up, moved way left, and wheeled it with flippier balls (Octane Burn and Tag).

I normally carry 4 balls plus a plastic spare ball.....I guess I'll bring along an extra 2 ball tote for some extra options.   :P  :P

Yes both houses are wood and look pretty beat up.  I used a Motiv Jackal (it was still legal then) with a 4000 finish and polish.
