Title: KING OF THE HILL, Saturday December 9th
Post by: coltfoet5 on December 03, 2006, 09:38:50 AM
There is a King of the Hill tournament at Don Carter Lanes in Rockford, IL December 9th.  It starts at 1pm and is only $24 to get in $30 if you want to get in all the pots.  Last week king spot paid $340 and they pay down top 8.  If interested in bowling call 399-0314, that is the bowling center.  Hope to see new people.

The cut last week was 672.  I've seen it anywhere between 630 and 690+.  I would say average cut is in the 660's.  You're almost always in with 680.

I beg to differ with you that it usually takes 660 to get in.  I've bowled in it and shot in the 660's and 670's and didn't get in.  I would say you shoot 690 you may get in.  However, when I won it back in March of this year, there was a little more difficult shot than the normal THS and low to get in was 628.  I qualified with a 636 and then beat my opponents pretty handily.  Had to go up against one of the tougher opponent's I've faced out there who was King which would be the initials of JM.  I had a good look and he didn't.  That was the only time I saw it get that low.

If you shoot 690, you will be in over 95% of the time.  I've only seen the cut over 690 once, and I bowl it a lot.  I've also shot in the 660's and not made it, but not very often.  If I'm below 660, I put my street shoes on and hang out.  Anything above that, and I feel pretty good about my chances.

I have heard the scores are normally higher side of things.  I wish they would change things up a bit by going with the pro shot they put out monday nights.  I do plan on bowling this saturday if all goes well.  I usually only bowl this once or twice a year so times running out.
