Not to seem critical, but isn't $2000 per man a little high for a prize fund of 40,000? I mean that's 20 percent of the entire prize fund just to the first place team. What does the bottom of the prize fund look like? And what are you paying to bowl each week?

It is $25 per week.  Last year it paid $1,500 per man with $31K in the fund.

I cannot imagine trying to bowl a $25 league and worrying about what the bottom of the prize fund will pay.

In the words of Herm Edwards, "You play to win the game."

    Last Year's Prize Fund:
    http://www.bowl4money.com/bno%20league/PrizeFundB.pdf

Since we're getting a $10k increase, that would leave $8,000 to be dispersed among the remaining 23 teams.

Last year the top 3 teams made money....sure it's not the best way to go, but considering that we're charged over $12.00 for lineage per bowler each week doesn't make it any better.

It's competitive, we have brackets, and it's a men's league.  There are not too many of those around anymore.

Seems okay to me.  I bowl in a "fun" league and I think the payouts are pretty similar to what this league paid out last year.  Our team came in 21/26 and I think we got around $75 per person.

I don't remember the exact payouts, but I think first place was around $1500 (it was right around being twice what was paid into the league - 35 weeks @ $20/wk).

It looks like a good league. The point I was trying to make was that yours is a full season league, and I would wonder if people would see they had no chance of getting to the big money, and then decide "why pay 20+ dollars a week for just 150 or so back"? I for one couldn't see paying out a large amount to bowl with little in return.

Thanks for the input.  I believe one of the guys on the prize committee is going to present a prize fund that will have more of a spread throughout the league.

Most of the time the top 3 teams seem to be the beneficiaries but we are going to try and not make it so top heavy.

We may not go as high as 2k now with all the talks on here and with members of the league as many good points have been brought up.  It's safe to say that $25.00 per week is high and although it is competitive, there are teams that will fall toward the bottom half and should get a little something back.

Thanks again to all suggestions and comments.

We still have 23 teams and are looking for a 24th Team.  I've posted the rosters online with avgs. so if you are thinking of bowling, you'll see there are only a handful or two of guys that avg. over 205.

Not that it matters at this point, but my captain was cleaning out his bag and found last years prize fund.

    http://qstick777.homestead.com/PrizeFund_Choices.pdf

As you can see, the winning fund paid $1100 per person for 1st place, and $28.40 per person for last place.

That is for 26, 5-person teams, paying $20 per week.  And remember, this is a "Fun" league!

Seeing as how Stephen's league is a competitive men's league, I think the payout structure looks perfectly fine and fair.
