NJ company that sells obsolete balls
« on: December 12, 2007, 04:44:51 AM »
I am from the midwest. Just changed to 15 # equipment. Some of the balls that I really liked in 16 or no longer in the various companies lines. Heard that there is a company in NJ that buys up outdated equipment from distributors and manufacturers. Does anybody know of these people? Could you get me a address or phone number is someone does? It would be a big help.

Thanks

I don't know about a particular company that does it, but if you're looking for some specific ball, just post in the For Sale/WTB section.  There are a lot of pro shop owners and drillers on here and you'd be surprised what's cluttering up their shelves.

There is a store on Ebay that always has older equipment for sale. They were selling Ultra Angles and such a few months back. They are located in NJ, I think Plainfield.

Sorry I can't remember the name but if you put in what you are looking for on the search engine, it maye come up.

Like Krumpy, I live in NJ and never heard of it. Let me/us know what you find.

I haven't seen anything like that in their store nor on the net. They are a distributor and a LARGE pro shop store in Allentown, PA near the airport, just off Rt 22.

There was a company out of I think Michigan called GLC Bowling supply that was well known for having alot of older "obscure" stuff a few years back.  They were a good source for older urethane hammers as well as alot of early 90's era resin.  They are still a going company but have been bought out by another distributor whose name escapes me at the moment.  Ever since the new ownership their list no longer has the old goodies it once did.  They are the only distributor I can think of who ever had those kind of balls with any regularity.

I bought from them several times via Ebay. They seemed very until about a year ago. Then they refused to tell me if a ball was available with a certain pin and/or top weight. They/he claimed the balls were in another location. I was not paying premium prices for an unknown entity. I refused to bid on anymore of their balls.

But there are several other Ebay sellers, like Bowling Blowouts that are better for older balls.

Check out posts / eBay auctions from MadMax.  He seems to have a decent stock of older equipment and hard to find overseas equipment.

The guy you are looking for in NJ is Al Darby.  I think his ebay name was adarbee or something. I sold hime 250 Battle Zones about 6 years ago. I have emailed him several times for an updated inventory but he never responds back. I think he is 100% ebay only.  Beans

GLC was bought out by DiLaura bros and there stock is almost gone. Not much good stuff left.

Hope this helps.  beans

Geez, Al Darby? I haven't heard that name in years and years. He had incredible listings of old balls, even 8 years ago. He was in South Jersey at that time.

Beans, know his ebay moniker?
