Please take a moment to reply and give your response to the following questions.  Beside the obvious (respectable payout, side action, and tough, but scoreable conditions):

1. What makes you want to bowl in a Scratch Tournament?
2. Do you like tournaments that start early (between 9 or 11am) or late (between 1-3pm)?
3. Do you like tournaments that are 1 day or 2 day events?
4. Do you like tournaments that offer multiple squads?
5. Do you prefer a sweeper (5 - 10 games, winners determined by total pins) or a qualifying block followed by a cut of some kind?
6. Do you like tournaments that have match play?
7. Do you like tournaments that have step-ladder?
8. Do you like tournaments that use both match play and step-ladder?
9. How far are you willing to travel for a tournament you've never bowled in but feel it would be worthwhile?
10. If the tournament was held on a Saturday or a Sunday, would you be willing to bowl in a mini-sweeper the night before for a chance at some extra money?
11. How many games are too little and how many games would be too much?
12. How much would you be willing to pay for an entry based on cost of bowling today ($75, $85, $100)?
13. Last question, do you prefer reserving a spot in advance (if you were discounted $10) or walking-in to a tournament and paying the extra $10 added?

The reason for these questions is that there is discussion about starting up the Virginia/Maryland Scratch Masters Tournament Club once again and wanted to hear everyone's thoughts based on the questions above.  For those of you not familiar with the Tournament Club, it was the fastest growing Scratch Club in the area during the mid-1990's and had over 300 members and averaged close to 100 entries it's first 2 years.  After people saw how great it was, rather than continuing the support felt they could get some of the action by starting their own tournament club and suddenly, the number of entries declined because some bowlers could not afford bowling 2 weekends in a row if they didn't cash or had chose to bowl in one opposed to the other out of convenience in schedule.  Thanks for your time!
