Good luck with the league.  This sounds like an absolute blast, and I wish somewhere in my slice of paradise ran this!

Urethane for the win.

I think this is a great idea for a league and would join for sure!  I'd be sad that I couldn't bring my Blue Hammer along, though (and I know others who would feel the same way about their oldies but goodies).  But I'd be there with my Natural for sure.  Curious to see what USBC says.

To clear things up a bit...I work with Tommy and I'm sure he'll post to confirm this.  All urethane balls will be allowed as long as they meet the plugged ball specifications as noted in the original post.  Again, any urethane ball, old or new, will be allowed.  Tommy was just trying to list some of the more recent urethane releases.

Could you possibly run a summer league from this?  Most of the guys in York are bowling in a league on Tues night already, or they are bowling Wed/Thurs/Fri like myself.  I would love to bowl in this league, but can't justify 4 nights of league a week.

We are very hopeful that we get a good turnout, and we are able to run another in the summer.

Rick,

Yes, that ball should be alright. I don't remember that one, but if urethane, thumbs up!!

If any of you are going to bowl this league, please p.m. me, so I can get you on the list. We will be using 3 pair of lanes. I think it will be a success at 12 bowlers, with 18 being perfect, and maxing out at 24. As of right now, we are at 4 confirmed. I do have flyers printed, if any one is interested.

If you can Tommy, email me the flyer to rickm835@netzero.net, or fax to 717-843-3454 and I will make copies of it. I have a ball coming soon to allow me to bowl hopefully.
Thanks again, Don't forget I have a marathon tournament Jan. 31st at 10am on a short oil pattern.

For any of you that are interested in this league, and do not currently own a urethane ball, I received an e-mail from bowlingball.com that they have Storm Natural 2nds in 15 and 16 lbs on sale for $85.99 including shipping.

Tomorrow night is the start of the Urethane league. I have had ALOT of interest from people, but not alot of confirmed bowlers. This is a very unique league, one that I hope will take off and we will be able to offer it as multiple short league seasons through the entire year.

I have had many questions about the league, and want to add some answers.

Is this a sport shot?
This is NOT a sport pattern league. The pattern will be based off of our house shot, with less volume.

Why only urethane, and not plastic?
The idea behind making it a urethane league is so that MOST ALL of the ball companies can be represented. All of the current companies at one time, or are currently offering a urethane piece, and this will allow ALL the companies to be represented. Also, this isolates the use of one form of technology for all participants.

Is this league sanctioned?
Yes, the league will be sanctioned.

Why a tuesday night, and not on the weekend?
This happens to be the time and the night when we have the lanes available to offer this league. Most weekends have local tournaments, and I did not want to compete with that.

Will you run one in the summer?
Maybe. If we get a good enough turnout, and enough interest, I would like to run multiple sessions of this league throughout the year, which will include the summer.

Hopefully this answers some of your question, and I hope to see alot of you there Tomorrow night.
