Pa State Bowling Tournament
« on: February 09, 2011, 02:56:56 AM »
We are heading to the state tournament in May. We haven't been to Altoona in a long time and I was wondering if anybody could give me some info on some places to maybe get a bite to eat and have a few drinks.

Nice bowling Rick. Thanks for the review.

I have one question. If you had to choose which would you try first straight up the boards or swing it more?

I did noticed that the straighter players did have better carry... I witnessed a couple nice matches and they seemed to be playing a straighter line, the guys I saw that tried to hook the lane, or even play a heavy swing, tended not to carry and leave alot of strange pin combos. The teams that I knew people on, seemed to be able to break down the right side easiler at the minor house then the team house. I just thought the team house was super dry/wet, if yo swing the ball there, it hooked instant and alot... Best of LUCK and don't miss going to Jefro's for lunch or dinner...

The team house has a lounge downstairs serving mixed drinks, beer, and food.  Also there is a bar 3 blocks away called Pellegrine's bar. Bands usually play Friday and Saturday with a reasonable food menu. If you use Plank Road traveling to and from each bowling alley there are numerous resturants to choose from.

As for bowling, both houses with a normal THS, the outsides do hook quite a bit.

Well I'm hidding out to the tournament this weekend. I see on the tournament website there are some big scores being shot, I'm guessing theres a pretty decent shot. I guess I'll find out in a couple of days.

I'll be there May 14-15. We'll see how my hand holds up for those 9 games, then 9 more at Nationals later that week......

Anyone looking for a sub for the tournament?  I can do June 4th-5th or 11th-12th.  I may be able to pull another guy if a second is needed.

LMK,
