Title: Anyone see Buddies new web site?
Post by: charlest on March 23, 2011, 11:41:13 PM
Personally I like the old one much better: clearer and easier to navigate.
Also appears less user friendly, more like Bowlingball.com's design which I really don't like. Maybe it's just me.

I already encountered one nasty little problem/error occurring in Firefox, Internet Explorer and Netscape  browsers. Can't believe the web designer didn't get more testers before installing it.

Saw it yesterday.  Wasn't too bad, at least it seems to be pretty fast.

I did have an issue with trying to expand the manufacturer list - wouldn't go any further than Lanemasters.  I think it finally expanded after I clicked on a different link.  Went back today and the full list is there.

Can't seem to find their tech documents.  I think they used to have some decent stuff about drillings, axis tilt, etc.
edit:  found it from the home page. On the old site I think it used to be a tab or link from any page.

Expanding the manufacturer's list was my main problem. I sent them an email. They said they'd have the web designer look at it.

Still looks like other web sites now instead of their own.

The service is more important to me than the look and feel of the website.  No one can top Buddies on the web.  The website looks fine to me.  I like the way balls are broken out by surface and core type on the left hand side.

We understand that when something new is launched that there will be those that love the old look, but in order to stay modern our site had to change. When building this site we tried to keep it customer friendly and work within the features of the old site.

Also, no matter how much testing is done there will be some hickups when it launches. An example of this is the site not showing all the manufacturers. This has been fixed. I will say it did work correctly before launch. A couple of new additions to this site are: Appointment/events Calender, appointment requests (my favorite addition), and a more modern search for products under each category.

Popular links like "Tech Central" and "What were they using?" are now available on the right hand side of the home page under the information section.

Thank you to everyone who emailed or facebooked us with their feelings on the new site.
