Title: BUYLANE1...anyone dealt with
Post by: Bowl_Freak on April 03, 2017, 10:16:02 AM
Ordered a bottle of 8oz Secret Sauce last week Monday and tracking number provided to me was a dud. Been asking for tracking updates for last couple of days and hasn't responded with updates or a different USPS tracking number. Late last week they said i should have it by Friday/Saturday but he/she wasnt sure. Emailed Friday and no response. Just sent another email today and see if they respond today.

So their reply today was, " US Postal Service is not very good at keeping their tracking updated." Which most cases is not true but i can see sometimes. "We are sorry for that, but your package should arrive any day now." Well, if your tracking is working on your end, why does the tracking you provided me not work and you won't provide me with a valid tracking #?

Honestly I have had more problems with the USPS not posting the tracking status as the package goes from state to state and from depot to depot than either FEDEX or UPS. I think that's because of the volume of packages and the relative newness of true tracking numbers to their system and to the employees.

If they say the USPS hasn't input the tracking status, it is not unusual at all, from my experience. It won't make you happy, but it's sadly true. It doesn't happen often but much more so than the other two major carriers.

Im going to wait and hopefully shows up by end of week. If not, im going to try and get a refund. USPS tracking#s dont start with 000 like what they gave me. USPS tracking #'s start with '94' numbers as i "used" to work for USPS. USPS #0004000074522185618475247600615 is the number they provided. If this is what ordering from Lane1 is like, i can see why they are almost out of business.

Like this would be the only reason...

Not they don't begin with "000".
I tried other sequences using those numbers but nothing showed up. They could have typed it wrong (they should have used cut and paste)

As a current USPS employee who deals with parcels at least part of every work day, that number listed in the thread is not a valid USPS tracking number...too many digits........this is a sample......9400 1000 0000 0000 0000 00....remember that the spaces won't be there from any sellers communications to you, all the numbers will be just jammed together...but it will not have more numbers than in the example above.

I've ordered from them before with no problems. I'm pretty sure your package will arrive.

Still havent recieved my product, going on 2 weeks now. Got an email from Richie the other day saying he will look into it the next couple days cause he is busy. Also told me they send things out First Class mail with no tracking number because of the cost associated with tracking. I now know why Lane1 has gone bye-bye. Want to charge $$$$ for their equipment but dont want to provide tracking numbers cause it would cost too much. Haha.

Got a new email from Lane1 replying to my last email requesting a refund. Here is their response,
"If we incur $2.00 extra cost on 100 sales of this item, that's $200.00 extra we must cough up. If only 1, 2 or even 3 orders don't get to our customer, we're still saving in the long run, even if we have to resend the item out for free.

We are sending you a new item and will get the tracking number to you tomorrow.
Thank you,

I told them all I want is my money back since they feel like they can charge $300 for balls but cringe at the idea of spending an extra $1/$2 for tracking of a less expensive item.

And yet another response after requesting my money back.
"I'm trying to run a business and be profitable, no different than any other company. They all cut spending in areas they can get away with. We're doing our best to handle the situation as best we can, but unfortunately we're not as big s company as we used to be. We've shipped out hundreds of bottles of this product, and 99% of time the US Postal Service has delivered the package.

We're sorry you didn't receive the product on time, but it's not our fault and we've been in communication with you the whole way, considering the person has been in the hospital out sick for a few days as well. You'll get this awesome product shortly and will love the results.

Sincerely,
Lane #1 "

All I asked for was a refund but seems they are unwilling to accommodate.

Or Lane 1 could just sell bowling balls for a reasonable price. Better to have customers at a slight profit than no customers at a huge profit.

You'd think they'd have learned Economics 101 by now.
"Sell 1 ball at $300 or sell 50 balls at $150 - which makes you more profit?

When you are a boutique brand there are no simple economics.  You either have to be premium or the lowest price.  At the mid point you compete against the big brands and you will never out market them.  They had their time having a little niche, that time has passed.  Pricing a ball as high as they did is just a last ditch cash grab for the diehards that had to have the next Lane 1 ball
