Title: Warning for Buddies---Problem solved by buddies!
Post by: Matt Fortney on November 01, 2005, 06:15:28 AM
Just ordered a pair of Women's Dexter SST 4 plus' from them, and when i got them, they've got an ugly brown ring around the raised D on the side of the shoe. knowing how good buddies customer service is, i called them to get it straightened out. all he said was "that's dexter that's not us." he even called and checked the warehouse and he said that every pair were like that. i then called dexter and they said no way! they're definitely not supposed to be like that, and buddies should be giving me a refund. so, i guess if you're looking for a pair of women's sst4 plus's, stay away from buddies. bowling.com has non-defective pairs. don't plan on using buddies in the future, very dissapointed.

Did you call Buddies and tell them what Dexter said ??? Or ask Dexter to contact Buddies ??? Keep on it and I'm sure that you can get it straightened out.

We called the warehouse and they went thru 10 - 15 pairs of shoes in different sizes in that model. All the pairs had a brown ring around them. We notified the customer that we checked numerous pairs of shoes and they were like the pair he got. We said we would take them back.

The warehouse has now contacted us to let us know that they have found one pair that is good and in the size needed. We are shipping a good pair of shoes today.

Bill does admit that he made an error in his comment "that's Dexter not us", realizing it when he hung up with the customer.

Told ya !!!
They have a great reputation in BR, and I figured that they would come through !!! (And this is from someone who has never dealt with them ... based purely upon what I've seen written about them in here).

That sounds like dexters fault with quality control since it was'nt just 1 or 2 pair, but glad to see that buddies has taken care of the issue.

Buddies called me and totally fixed it. they didn't lose  one bit of my business over this. they're going to be next-day airing a pair of shoes without the brown ring to me today. i'll have them tomorrow. i've never had anything like this before with them, and as far as i can tell, it won't happen again. just for the record, i'm not mad, but they never told me they would take them back during our first conversation. maybe just a misunderstanding, but thank you for fixing it.

Betcha Chris or Bill have a long, serious chat with their Dexter distributor over that "brown ring" on all those pairs of shoes!!!
Sounds like the distributor sold them a bunch of seconds for the price of firsts!

Distributor actually didn't realize anything was the matter till we called. Since they all looked that way they thought it was the way they were made. Now they are pissed because Dexter sent them this crap. And of course Dexter tells the customer they didn't make them like that. Just like the orginal SST 7 were a darker grey in the demo's then the almost brown they are now.

Maybe if Buddies actually stocked their merchandise instead of drop shipping everything, they would have seen this 1st hand and not shipped the shoes out themselves.

I hate defending us from time to time here about our means of shipping, but we DO NOT have everything drop shipped to the customer. We ship about 40-50 orders from here daily. We try to stock the items that are popular, whether that is balls, bags, shoes or accessories. The shoes in question here are not one of our top ten sellers, so no need to stock.

Last time I new Amazon.com, the largest e-tailer didn't stock all the items they show.

I have always gotten every ball with the exact specs that I requested from Buddies. I must add that I am very picky and every ball I have ordered and may be somewhat of a hard customer to please. But Buddies has kept me an Overly Satisfied customer with each and every order I make. I have ordered numerous balls with various specs and each one was what I wanted down to the ounce if requested. If they did not have what I asked for, Buddies would actually call me and tell me what they had and gave me a choice. Even if they did have every item "drop shipped", I'm sure I would still get the same HIGH level of service that I receive time and time again from Buddies.

Business's are always going to make mistakes, whether its their fault or their distributors fault it doesn't matter. Its how they make up for it to the Customer. That's what matters. From my experience, Buddies has always done what is fair and what it takes to keep their Customer's satisfied and happy.

EXACTLY!!! when i first put up this post i was very upset because it seemed like they weren't doing anything to handle the issue, when in reality, they were. got a phone call from them within the next 2 hours telling me that they're going to send a new pair. they handled it very well, and for sure will lose no business from me.

I can tell you that I went to one distributor on Saturday and pulled his shoes for him and showed him the spot he is speaking of. There was even a Dexter rep there and he was like clueless to what I was showing him. He just said he didn't know why. My question was why were they sent like this.

To top it off I went to another distributor today. Took the owner out and pulled a pair off his shelf. Showed him the wonderful picture on the outside of the box in which the letter "D" is perfectly white. I then opened the box and the brown spot was over 2 inches in circumference. Needless to say he was pissed. We pulled each box of the shelf and they all had that spot on them, some much more visible then others. So this actually makes three distributors total that we know of that have horrible craftsmanship from Dexter, but yet they deny it if you call them. I will say that this shoe has been removed from our site. Whoever has good ones must have gotten the only few because all 100 we have seen are no good. Some are hard to see but yet visible, others are so visible it makes you wonder how they ever left the factory.

Also, your credit has been entered. Sorry again for the hassle. I guess if these shoes would have sold more we would have known of this problem. And Dexter obviously does not seem to care because the sales rep would not even pull them off the shelf at the distributor's we were both at.

did get my money back, that's all i'm worried about. i won't hessitate to deal with buddies again becuase of the way they came through, it was just upsetting that buddies didn't know anything, dexter didn't know anything, i felt like i got screwed.

and btw-we would have gotten my wife abs's, cuz that's what i have and i love them, but the only women's pair they have is ugly. her feet ain't big enough to wear any available men's size either. oh well, search continues.

Themezz before you chime maybe you should know the facts. There was a trade show here in the East on Saturday and it was at the distributors warehouse. Also at least 3 of the distributors I deal with are in on Saturdays if I need to go there or want to call in orders. One is even in on Sundays when I call in. I love that place because they work 7 days a week like we do.

Hello,

I work at one of the largest stand alones in the country (Sports Plus / Carmen Don in Alexandria, VA) most if not all of our distributors are available on Saturdays and one on Sundays as well.
