Title: Who has the best sales?
Post by: Antec on December 29, 2014, 10:54:10 AM
I live in a small community I basically have two pro shops. One has no stock at all not even a towel! The other is only open 2pm-5pm Monday thru Friday, since I work third shift my options are limited. So since I took up this sport I have bought everything online. The guy who drills all my stuff has no problem taking care of me with the stuff I bring him. I scored some deals this holiday season, but who do you look for the deals all year long?

If you want the "latest and greatest" ball, then you will usually pay about the same on every site.

If you are willing to use the previous hot ball instead of the current flavor of the month, then you can find them at a decent price. Check the listings here, or Ebay and other online auctions. Not every brand will be discounted. Storm for instance, rarely goes down much in price even after the ball has been discontinued. Brunswick, Ebonite, Columbia 300 and 900 Global/AMF will often go for fire sale prices within a year of the original release for most balls.

Buddies Pro Shop has some really good prices on closeout stuff from time to time. You can sign up for their newsletter on their site.

I used to get older balls at buddies pro that are dirt cheap. finding specs you want may be hard to get, but if you don't care about TW or Pins etc... then it'll be a good deal...lol

Yea, but at least with Buddies, you can choose the exact ball you want from their inventory when they put them on closeout. I really like that.

Bowlersdeals and bowlerx used to have deals that rivaled buddies.  Now buddies is the deal leader...by far

Check for yourself. I looked at the closeout prices Buddies has vs the same stuff on Bowler X. Buddies almost always has the lower price. If you want to go by reviews, I would put Buddies against ANYONE you want to come up with.

Antec asked a question so I threw out a suggestion so do not get bent out of shape over a question he asked and was responded upon.

No one is bent over it, just ask you to back up your claim of BowlerX having the best sales. I buy a lot of stuff too. I have no affiliation to any of these sites, so if one has better deals, I want to know about it.

See their web reviews and "other people".

BowlerX.com

I am not a "staff guy", but BowlerX.com does have some very good deals, with some standard prices less than Buddies on some balls. They also sell a number of balls at closeout for reduced prices, just like Buddies. Keep in mind that I have been buying balls form Buddies since they started; I buy maybe 70% of all my balls from them.
This is my personal experience.

I like bowlerx's ship time.  I believe they are located in Pennsylvania or something, so shipping to Indiana is no more than 2 days max for free shipping...

Thanks for the replies! I made a ball purchase from Buddies during there Black Friday sale, I too like how they list exactly what they offer. Like Milo said about the new stuff, pretty much the same price wherever you go. For the new stuff I have been buying from Bowling.com, with there shipping I always get it the next day. But I will start keeping a regular eye on Buddies and BowlerX, I like a good deal as much as the next guy. Plus I have somewhat of a bowling ball addiction, I can't help myself!

The real answer is: it depends. I have about 7 sites bookmarked. And they all have at least one or two deals that beat everyone else. It just depends what you are looking for.  If you lock into just one site and say, they have the best deals; then you are going to miss the best deals.

Exactly,  they all overstock at times and just need to move stuff. Even if it's at a loss.
