Hole Pounder review
« on: November 27, 2006, 01:56:29 PM »
ok this is my first review so bare with me:
ball: hole pounder pearl 15lb 2.75 pin 2.68 top b/f brill
drilling: pin over center of bridge, centerline of grip 5/8 left of cg. 1/2 pos side weight after drill no weight hole
coverstock: left oob
lanes: all wood heavy oil 15-15 med-med heavy15-5 5-0 med light
bowler: high speed 19-21 cranker very high rev rate span 4 5/8 4 3/4 pap over 5 1/8 up 3/4

ok I received my new banger hole pounders today. punched up with my favorite drill pattern and went and threw a few shots on the lanes before being oiled for leagues tonight well all i can say is damn this ball was awesome. stood 35 across 20 to 5 and boom no pins on the deck. threw several shot like this and the ball was just dead on. so to compare it to so other balls i grabbed my angular one and awesome revs same drilling on both just like the hole pounder only more side weight in angular one @ .75 pos. well the angular one had a sharper break point but left 4 ten pins in a row. throwing the same line. next the awesome revs, through the same line but the revs read midlane a lot harder (as it should) and came in high in six straight shots. all balls where left in oob finish.
ok we oiled the lanes with ths and started over.
first the hole pounder: stood 30  across 17-18 out to 3-5 board and it was dead nuts in the pocket. pulled a couple of shot and the ball was still dead on has great length with a very sharp break point and stored all of it's energy till it hit the 1-3. next the angular one; same shot as above ball goes a foot longer and makes a hard break to the pocket and again multiple ten pins but did get a few to carry out. if i pulled this ball it would jump and go through the face. so on to the awesome revs, stood the same 30 across 17-18 out to 3-5 (a tad wide too grey broads don't hook) and the ball was very predictable mid-late read strong arc (not flip) to the pocket and sruck several time also several; 9 pins but this was a little more forgiving if i through it bad.  i bowled in league with this ball shot 742 with it. had a good line just has to make sure i didn't let up on it. if i did it would come high had one bad split with it but not ball error, bowlers error.
summary: the hole banger is a very predictable angle to the pocket, i liked it better than the angular one or the awesome revs. i had more room to make a mistake  with the hole pounder than i had with  the other two balls.
just wanted to say thanks to David at banger bowling to get me the balls so quick. and just because banger is a little company don't overlook them. they will be a force to deal with. if any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

well the one that i drilled up worked great, not every ball will work for every bowler. so if you would like some help with it give so info on drilling, lane conditions and bower type/style.  i will try to help myself as well as the many other BR members.

I agree with Dr. Revs & David. If the ball isn't working/hooking then have the ball weighed & or make sure the layout is for your game. Having used it a few shots on a dry Sport pattern & an average house condition this ball smokes the pocket & eat the pins. Due to Thanksgiving I'll use it for the first time Friday on an average house condition during league & I'll report on Monday the results from that. If your still having an issue with the ball I highly recommend that you get in touch with David & or Dr. revs, they offered their assistance so take them up on it!

I agree 100% with what aceinthehole said. I through the Hole Pounder Pearl last week Tuesday, and let me tell you that this is one of the hardest hitting balls I have seen around. I had some trouble with my layout, it was drilled very week but it still moved. Even with carrydown developing in my third game I still found myself crushing the pocket. One call to David fixed my problems, and helped with the layouts of my next two balls that I drilled. I must say that the quick response that I received from David at Banger Bowling was unbelievable. So if you have any questions regarding layouts, and finishes please contact David at Banger Bowling.
